Verify the dealer relationship before committing

Compare specification, attachments and local support

Request the exact model, model year, operating weight, engine configuration, hydraulic flow and attachment compatibility. Compare cooling and filtration arrangements for dust and heat, along with the local availability of filters, seals, tyres or undercarriage components. Match the machine to existing fleet tools where practical, but verify compatibility rather than assuming that a similar-looking coupling will fit.

Attachments can change the effective purchase cost. Ask whether the bucket, breaker, forks, quick coupler and auxiliary hydraulic lines are included, and check their safe working limits. Transport dimensions may differ when an attachment is removed. Include the lifting and unloading arrangement in the delivery plan.

Inspect used machinery before shipment

Obtain clear serial and engine-number records, proof of ownership, hours and maintenance history. Ask an appropriately qualified inspector to assess cold starting, leakage, hydraulic operation, wear and structural condition. Review diagnostic information where available. A short video does not replace a documented inspection, and a low hour-meter reading should be checked against wear and service records.

Make the inspection scope part of the order process. State which defects require repair before dispatch, which are accepted in the price and which allow rejection. If a machine cannot be operated under representative load, the report should state that limitation. Do not treat an untested subsystem as verified simply because the engine starts.

Budget for delivery and ownership in Ghana

Compare the machine price with inland collection, export preparation, ocean freight, insurance, Ghana clearance, taxes and final site delivery. Confirm whether the offer is delivered to port or to your operating site. For oversized equipment, share dimensions and weight early so that transport options can be assessed. A low machine price can be outweighed by handling or repair costs.
