How to Buy and Export Optical, Photographic, Cinematographic, Measuring, Checking, Medical or Surgical Instruments and Apparatus; Parts and Accessories from Burundi

The HS Code for optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories – HS Code 8542.20 – covers a broad range of products being exported from Burundi. These products are known as ‘articles’ and have the prefix ‘unfinished’ in the HS Code. This type of product has a wide variety of end-use applications and is generally sold to manufacturers who will further process the product into finished goods by adding more value to it. Import Requirements

The importer must get pre-shipment inspection done by a recognized inspection company and receive an ISA-22 Certificate of Inspection issued by the company at the time of import. The products must be tested for the following parameters: All products imported into India are subject to the additional Customs duty, Excise duty and other applicable taxes. The importer must hold an Indian Customs E-Commerce Registered User ID (e-Customs Registration) from their State’s Customs Authority.

Export Requirements

The product must be free from contamination, damage, defect or adulteration. Items must be segregated into different categories based on the mode of transport used for export – Air, Sea or Land. The export inspector will use the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System (HS Code) while inspecting the goods. The exporter must be registered with the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). Export documentation includes Bill of Export, Commercial Invoice, Certificate of Origin, Airway Bill, Shipping Bill, and Insurance. Foreign Trade Policy is applicable for exports of all products.
