Trademark Advisor

Your brand name is one of the most valuable things your business owns — and until it's registered as a trademark, it isn't really yours. A trademark advisor runs the whole process for you: searching the register, filing in the right classes, handling publication, and securing your certificate — then helping keep that protection in force. One team, all the paperwork, from start to finish.

Trademark Advisor — All Services
What your advisor handles

The whole trademark process — off your desk.

Registering a trademark is a multi-step process with its own deadlines. Your advisor runs each part so you don't have to.

Availability search

Searching the trademarks register before you file, to check your name is available and flag conflicts that could block it.

Classification & filing

Identifying the right class or classes for your goods and services, and preparing and filing your application correctly.

Paperwork & documents

All the forms and supporting documents prepared and submitted — nothing for you to notarise, chase or file on time yourself.

Publication & opposition

Managing the journal publication stage and watching the opposition window, so nothing is missed while your mark is public.

Certificate secured

Following the application through examination and acceptance to your Certificate of Registration — the proof the mark is yours.

Renewal & watch

Keeping your registration in force through its renewals, and flagging look-alike filings so your brand stays protected over time.

Why it matters

An unregistered name is a name you can lose. Registration is how you keep it.

You can build a reputation around a brand name for years — but without a registered trademark, someone else can register it first and stop you using your own name, or trade off it with a look-alike you can't easily challenge. A registered trademark gives you the exclusive right to your name in the classes you register, and the legal standing to defend it.

Doing it through Wigmore means one team runs the whole process, keeps to every deadline, and brings in qualified trademark attorneys where your matter needs formal legal input — so it's done properly, not half-filed and forgotten.

What registration protects you from
Someone registering your name first — and locking you out of it
Copycats and look-alikes — trading off the reputation you built
Missed deadlines — a lapsed or wrongly filed application
Weak standing in a dispute — no certificate to point to
The registration journey

From name to certificate.

Registration runs over several months and several stages. Here's the path your advisor guides you along.

STAGE 1Search & adviseWe search the register, confirm your name is available and advise on the right classes to file in.
STAGE 2File the applicationYour application is prepared and filed, and we track it through the registrar's examination and acceptance.
STAGE 3PublicationOnce accepted, your mark is published for a set period in which third parties may oppose — which we monitor.
STAGE 4Certificate & upkeepIf unopposed, your Certificate of Registration is issued — and we help keep it renewed and protected.

One mark, or a whole portfolio? If you need a single defined registration we can quote that as a one-off instead of a monthly retainer — and if you're protecting several names or classes, we'll scope it with you. Registry/government fees are separate from our fee and confirmed in writing before filing. Tell us what you need to protect and we'll advise honestly.
Straight answers

Before you register.

Is this a monthly service or a one-off registration?
Registering a trademark is itself a process that runs over several months with multiple stages, and many businesses also want ongoing protection — renewals and watching for copycats — which is what the advisor covers. If your need is a single, defined registration rather than ongoing advisory, tell us and we'll quote it as a one-off instead. We'll always confirm the exact scope and what you're paying for before you commit, so you're never on an open-ended subscription you didn't intend.
Is the $995 all I pay?
The $995 is Wigmore's advisory fee. The trademarks registry charges its own official fees, which depend on how many classes you file in and the specifics of your application — those are set by the registry, not us. We confirm the complete cost, our fee plus registry fees, in writing before filing, so there are no surprises.
Can you guarantee my trademark will be registered?
No one honestly can. Whether a mark proceeds to registration is decided by the registrar, and a third party can oppose during publication. What a good advisor does is give your application the best possible chance — a proper search first, correct classification, clean paperwork and every deadline met — and advise you honestly if a name looks risky before you spend on it. We stack the odds in your favour; we don't pretend the outcome is ours to promise.
Does a Nigerian trademark protect me in other countries?
Trademark protection is territorial — a Nigerian registration protects your mark in Nigeria. If you trade across borders you may want to register in other jurisdictions too. Tell us where you operate and we'll advise on the marks worth securing and the routes for doing so.
Is this legal advice?
We provide a trademark advisory and filing service — running the process, preparing and filing your application, and keeping it on track. Where your matter needs formal legal advice or representation, such as a contested opposition, we bring in qualified trademark attorneys and work alongside your own lawyer if you have one. We're clear about where our service ends and legal counsel begins.
Do you also register my company?
Yes — if you're setting up in Nigeria, we can register your limited company, provide a resident director and handle the day-to-day through a business assistant. Protecting the brand name and registering the company that owns it often go together, and the same team can do both.

Trademark advisory and filing service. Wigmore Trading runs the registration process — search, classification, filing, publication monitoring and certificate — and supports ongoing renewal and protection; formal legal advice and representation are provided by qualified trademark attorneys, and this service is not a substitute for independent legal counsel. The $995 is Wigmore's advisory fee; official trademarks-registry fees are separate, depend on the number of classes and application specifics, and are confirmed in writing before filing. Registration outcomes are determined by the registry and can be refused or opposed; registration is not guaranteed. Trademark protection is territorial to the jurisdiction of registration. Single-registration and portfolio work quoted separately. Prices in USD.
