Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Construction Skills Trainer to join our training team in Lagos. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in hands-on construction work, strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for training and mentoring aspiring craftsmen and construction professionals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, hands-on training in core construction trades such as masonry, carpentry, plumbing, electrical installation, tiling, and painting.

  • Create and update lesson plans, training materials, and assessments in alignment with Nigerian construction industry standards.

  • Lead practical workshops and supervise trainees during on-site exercises and projects.

  • Evaluate student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback to help them develop their skills.

  • Maintain a safe and organized training environment in accordance with health and safety guidelines.

  • Contribute to the development of new courses and respond to evolving skills needs in the Nigerian construction sector.

  • Support events such as student recruitment, orientation, open days, and graduation ceremonies.


Requirements

Essential:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience in the construction industry.

  • Skilled in at least two construction trades (e.g., bricklaying, plumbing, carpentry, wiring, plastering).

  • Ability to teach and mentor people with little to no prior experience.

  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong commitment to safety and professionalism.

  • Basic digital literacy (e.g., use of email, Microsoft Word/Excel).

Desirable:

  • Experience working as a trainer or foreman in a vocational training setting.

  • Professional certification or vocational qualifications in construction-related fields.

  • Familiarity with Competency-Based Training (CBT) and assessment practices.

  • Prior involvement in community development or youth training projects in Nigeria.
