Location: Accra, Ghana
Company: African Land
Employment Type: Freelance / On-Call / Contract

About African Land

African Land is a leading property services and infrastructure development company focused on delivering reliable, secure, and innovative solutions across Africa. With operations spanning residential, commercial, and industrial spaces, we are committed to upholding safety, efficiency, and responsive service at all levels.

Role Overview

We are seeking a qualified Emergency Locksmith & Safe Access Technician to work on a freelance basis in the Accra area. This role is best suited to an experienced and certified locksmith who can respond rapidly to urgent lockout situations, secure premises, and—where legally authorized—assist with opening safes, vaults, or secure access systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 24/7 emergency locksmith services to clients, including residential, commercial, and industrial properties.

  • Gain non-destructive access to buildings, vehicles, and secure enclosures during lockouts.

  • Carry out safe opening and access restoration (including combination locks, digital keypad safes, and high-security vaults) as per proper documentation and client authorization.

  • Install, repair, and maintain locks, padlocks, deadbolts, safes, door closers, and related hardware.

  • Evaluate and upgrade existing security systems in line with modern access control standards.

  • Maintain detailed logs of service calls, security assessments, and materials used.

  • Collaborate with African Land’s property managers and security teams to ensure all interventions are lawful, efficient, and client-focused.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a locksmith, particularly in emergency and non-destructive entry techniques.

  • Certification or licensing (where required by Ghanaian law or local authority) as a locksmith or safe technician.

  • Strong knowledge of a range of locking systems, including traditional mechanical, electronic, biometric, and fire-rated locks.

  • Professional tools and equipment for lock-picking, safe opening, rekeying, and lock fitting.

  • Ability to work independently and respond on short notice to urgent calls.

  • Discretion, trustworthiness, and a clean criminal background are essential.

  • Must have access to transportation and basic digital tools for documentation and communication.

  • Basic knowledge of building codes and property security laws in Ghana.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with security services, law enforcement, or property management companies.

  • Background in security consulting or physical access control systems.

  • Familiarity with electronic keypads, RFID-based access, or biometric systems.

Compensation

  • Competitive per-call-out and hourly rate (to be negotiated based on experience).

  • Opportunity for long-term contracts with African Land and its affiliated properties.
