Role Overview
The Head of Automotive & Aerospace Engineering will be responsible for designing, building, and supervising the production of vehicles and specialised engineering systems, including automotive and aerospace applications. This role requires a visionary leader with strong technical expertise and the ability to establish and manage high-performance engineering and manufacturing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and production of vehicles and specialised automotive systems
- Oversee engineering, prototyping, and full-scale manufacturing processes
- Supervise the development of aerospace-grade components and systems where applicable
- Establish and manage manufacturing facilities, tooling, and production lines
- Ensure compliance with international engineering, safety, and quality standards
- Manage multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers
- Drive innovation, R&D, and continuous improvement in product design and performance
- Oversee supply chain, sourcing of materials, and vendor relationships
- Implement strict quality assurance and testing protocols
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure compliance with relevant standards
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering
- Master’s degree (MSc or MBA) is a strong advantage
Experience
- Minimum of 10–15 years’ experience in automotive or aerospace engineering
- Proven experience in vehicle design, manufacturing, or assembly operations
- Experience in setting up or managing production facilities
- Demonstrated leadership in large-scale engineering projects
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, powertrains, materials, and manufacturing processes
- Experience with CAD/CAE tools (e.g. CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
- Understanding of aerospace standards and precision engineering
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and production optimisation
- Familiarity with advanced materials, composites, and fabrication techniques
