Position Overview

The Group Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) is the principal architect of Wigmore Group’s long-term vision and enterprise growth strategy.

Working directly with the Group CEO and Board of Directors, the CSO will shape the Group’s strategic direction, evaluate emerging opportunities, oversee corporate development initiatives, and ensure that every business unit is aligned with the Group’s mission of becoming one of Africa’s most respected industrial, investment and technology enterprises.

This role is responsible for turning ambitious ideas into executable strategies that create sustainable long-term value.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the Group’s 10-year strategic plan.
  • Identify new industries, markets and growth opportunities.
  • Lead corporate transformation initiatives.
  • Evaluate mergers, acquisitions and strategic investments.
  • Establish enterprise-wide strategic priorities.
  • Coordinate strategy across Wigmore Trading, Travo and future Group companies.
  • Lead annual executive strategy retreats.
  • Advise the Board on macroeconomic, technological and industry trends.
  • Drive innovation across all business units.
  • Develop strategic performance frameworks and KPIs.
  • Sponsor high-impact special projects directed by the CEO.

Ideal Government Background

Candidates may have served as:

  • Minister of Industry, Trade or Investment
  • Minister of Finance
  • Minister of Communications or Digital Economy
  • Permanent Secretary in an economic ministry
  • Director-General of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC)
  • Director-General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE)
  • Senior Executive, Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA)
  • Executive at AfDB, IFC, World Bank, Afreximbank or African Finance Corporation
  • Senior Presidential Adviser on Economic Policy
  • Senior Executive within ECOWAS or the African Union

Candidates with a combination of public-sector leadership and private-sector executive experience are strongly preferred.
