What your import really costs — down to the unit.

The supplier's invoice is where the cost starts, not where it ends. This calculator stacks freight, insurance, duty, levies, VAT, clearing and haulage into one honest number — then tells you the landed cost per unit and the price you'd need to sell at for your target margin. Nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere.

Straight answers

The questions behind the numbers.

Why is my landed cost so much higher than the invoice?
Because the invoice is typically only 50–70% of what goods really cost to put on a Nigerian shelf. Duty and VAT are charged on the CIF value (cost + insurance + freight), standard levies stack on top, and clearing and haulage are paid in naira that devalues against your purchase currency. This is the whole point of the tool: businesses that price from the invoice go broke slowly and mysteriously; businesses that price from landed cost know their numbers.
Where do I find my duty rate?
Duty depends on your product's HS code under the ECOWAS Common External Tariff — anywhere from 0% to 35%, plus product-specific levies on some categories. Our free import duty calculator helps you find the rate by product; enter the result here to complete the landed picture. For a binding classification, the clearing desk works from your actual documents.
What should I put for clearing and haulage?
If you have a quote, use it. If not, ask us — a WhatsApp message with your cargo type and volume gets you a realistic figure from the desk that clears shipments weekly. Leaving them at zero gives you a fantasy landed cost, which is worse than no number at all.
How does the selling price calculation work?
It computes the price at which your landed cost represents (100 − margin)% of revenue — so a 30% target margin means selling price = landed cost ÷ 0.70. That's gross margin on landed cost; remember your operating costs (rent, staff, power) still come out of it, which is why serious retailers rarely target below 25–30% gross on imported goods.
Is my data stored anywhere?
No — everything computes in your browser and vanishes when you close the page. The only thing that leaves is the WhatsApp message you choose to send, containing the summary you've already seen.
