Job Description

Wigmore Trading is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Private Equity Analyst to join our team in Lagos, Nigeria. This role involves supporting the private equity investment process, from deal sourcing and due diligence to portfolio management and exits. The ideal candidate will have strong financial modeling skills, an understanding of African markets, and a passion for driving growth through strategic investments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investment Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including building complex financial models to evaluate potential investment opportunities.
  • Market Research: Analyze industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscapes to identify promising sectors and companies.
  • Due Diligence: Assist in due diligence processes, including evaluating financial statements, operational performance, and market positioning of target companies.
  • Portfolio Management: Monitor the performance of portfolio companies, analyzing financial results and preparing regular reports for stakeholders.
  • Deal Structuring: Support the structuring and negotiation of investment terms, working closely with legal and financial advisors.
  • Presentation Development: Prepare investment memos, pitch decks, and presentations for internal committees and external stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with potential investment partners, entrepreneurs, and industry professionals.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to local and international regulations, corporate governance standards, and ethical investment practices.

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. A CFA designation or an MBA is a strong advantage.
  • Experience:
    • 2–4 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, corporate finance, or consulting.
    • Prior experience with African markets or emerging economies is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills, including DCF, LBO, and comparable company analyses.
  • Analytical Abilities: Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Networking: Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with investors, partners, and entrepreneurs.
  • Knowledge of African Markets: Familiarity with investment opportunities and challenges within African markets is an advantage.
