Aluminium is the most common roof in new Nigerian buildings. It is priced by gauge (thickness in millimetres) and profile (the shape of the sheet). The main profiles are longspan, step-tile and metrocopo (also called metcopo). The most important thing to understand is grade. Lagos manufacturer Ideal Roofing separates “market grade” sheets, which it says are “thinner than the labelled gauge”, from “caliper” grade sheets, which match the stated thickness closely. Two sheets both called “0.55” can differ in price by more than 60%.

0.55 aluminium roofing sheet price in Nigeria (Jumia, Jiji and factories)
The 0.55mm gauge is the one most people ask about. Here is how the sources compare:
- Jiji marketplace (September 2026): 238 ads for 0.55 aluminium sheets. The biggest group (95 ads) is priced between ₦6,800 and ₦7,600. Sample listings include ₦7,100 for 0.55 full-gauge longspan (Abeokuta), ₦6,300 for step-tile (Egbe/Idimu, Lagos), ₦7,200 for black longspan (Ikorodu) and ₦7,600 for oven-baked black longspan (Ijebu). Many listings do not state whether the price is per metre or per square metre, so ask.
- Ideal Roofing (1 September 2026): ₦8,100–₦8,400/m² for market-grade 0.55, and ₦13,200–₦13,600/m² for caliper 0.55.
- Gods Promise Aluminium (April 2026, factory gate): ₦5,800–₦6,500/m² for 0.55 longspan, ₦6,500–₦7,200 for step-tile and ₦6,800–₦7,500 for metcopo. It adds ₦200–₦500/m² for colour-coated sheets.

Stone-coated roofing sheet prices
Stone-coated tiles are sold per piece. Each piece covers about 0.36 m², according to Gods Promise Aluminium. In September 2026, Jiji listings ranged from ₦4,550 (Lekki) and ₦4,600 (Onitsha) to ₦5,300 (Port Harcourt and Owerri). Most Lagos and Abuja listings were at ₦4,700–₦4,900 per piece. By profile, Gods Promise’s April 2026 figures for Gerard-brand tiles were ₦4,750–₦5,200 for shingle or bond, ₦5,500–₦6,000 for classic or Milano, and ₦6,000–₦6,500 for Roman. Branded tiles usually cost more than unbranded ones, so ask for the brand and the steel thickness in writing.
A word on asbestos
Old Nigerian buildings often have asbestos-cement roofing. Asbestos fibres cause serious lung disease, so never cut, sand or re-sell old asbestos sheets. If you are replacing one, hire a contractor who knows how to remove and dispose of it safely.
Price of one bundle of zinc in Nigeria
“Zinc” is what many Nigerians call galvanised corrugated iron, and sometimes any metal roofing sheet. It is sold by the bundle. September 2026 Jiji examples:
- Coloured aluminium-zinc, per bundle: ₦40,000 (Ajah, Lagos).
- 0.20 “Ghana zinc”: ₦48,000 (Onitsha).
- “Cameroon zinc”: listed at ₦420,000 (Onitsha). This is likely a multi-bundle or bulk price, so confirm the quantity.

Three things the example shows:
- The gauge and grade matter more than the profile. Moving from market-grade to caliper 0.55 adds about ₦1 million to this roof. Switching from longspan to step-tile adds only about ₦40,000.
- Stone-coated is not always far dearer. At the low end, it costs about the same as caliper-grade aluminium.
- Budget for extras. Overlaps, cutting waste, ridges, valleys and accessories add to the sheet cost. Ask your roofer for their waste allowance in writing.

What affects roofing sheet prices in Nigeria
- Gauge and grade. Thicker sheets cost more, and true-gauge (caliper) sheets cost much more than “market” sheets with the same label.
- Profile. Metrocopo and step-tile cost slightly more than plain longspan.
- Finish. Colour-coated or oven-baked finishes add about ₦200–₦500/m² over mill finish (April 2026 figure).
- Exchange rate and aluminium prices. Most aluminium coil is imported. Gods Promise Aluminium notes that building-material prices can move 10–20% in a quarter because of the exchange rate and logistics. That is why April and September 2026 price lists differ.
- Location. Stone-coated tiles were ₦4,550–₦4,900 in Lagos and Abuja but ₦5,200–₦5,300 in Port Harcourt and Owerri in September 2026.
- Order size. Factories quote lower for full-roof orders cut to length than for a few loose sheets.
- Season. Demand peaks in the dry season, when most roofing happens.
How to avoid underweight sheets and scams
- Measure the thickness yourself. Take a digital caliper or micrometer to the depot and measure several sheets away from the edges. A “0.55” sheet that measures well below 0.55mm is market grade and should be priced as such.
- Get the gauge, grade and unit in writing. Is the quote per square metre, per metre-run or per sheet? Does “0.55” mean true gauge? Many price disputes start here.
- Compare against the tables above. “0.55 caliper” at market-grade prices is too good to be true.
- Check the coating. Scratches, patchy colour or bubbling on new sheets are warning signs.
- Count on delivery. Count pieces or bundles against the invoice before the truck leaves, and check the lengths.
