About the Role

African Land is seeking an experienced and proactive Facilities and Building Operations Manager to oversee the full lifecycle management of our residential and commercial property assets in Accra. This high-level role is critical to ensuring the safety, efficiency, and operational excellence of our real estate portfolio in Ghana.

As the ideal candidate, you will bring strategic oversight and deep expertise in facilities management, building systems, vendor management, and compliance. You’ll report directly to company leadership and contribute to long-term asset value and tenant satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day management of building operations including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, and general maintenance.

  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules and operational standards.

  • Ensure full regulatory compliance with Ghana’s building codes, environmental laws, and safety standards.

  • Oversee service contracts, negotiate vendor agreements, and ensure performance KPIs are met.

  • Coordinate renovations, repairs, and infrastructure upgrades while minimizing disruption to tenants.

  • Manage onsite staff including maintenance technicians, security, and janitorial contractors.

  • Maintain building budget and optimize operational costs without compromising safety or service.

  • Ensure tenant satisfaction and resolve facility-related complaints and issues promptly.

  • Provide strategic insight to company leadership regarding capital improvements and infrastructure planning.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Civil/Mechanical Engineering, Building Technology, or related field.

  • Certification in Facilities Management (e.g., IFMA CFM, FMP, or similar) is a strong asset.


Experience

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in facilities/building management, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.

  • Proven experience managing multi-use buildings (residential and commercial) in an urban context.

  • Strong knowledge of Ghanaian building standards, safety codes, and energy management practices.

  • Experience in budgeting, vendor negotiations, and capital improvement projects.
