About Us
Wigmore Trading is a fast-growing trading company with operations across Africa, specializing in global sourcing, import/export, and supply chain management. As we expand our logistics network, we are looking for an experienced Freight Forwarding Agent based at Shanghai Port, China, to manage our shipping, customs clearance, and logistics coordination.
Role Overview
The Freight Forwarding Agent will be responsible for overseeing the movement of goods from China to various destinations in Africa. This role involves coordinating with shipping lines, customs authorities, suppliers, and transport companies to ensure smooth, cost-effective, and timely freight forwarding operations.
Key Responsibilities

Freight & Logistics Coordination:
- Manage the end-to-end process of freight forwarding, from booking shipments to final delivery.
- Negotiate rates and terms with shipping lines, freight carriers, and third-party logistics providers.
- Ensure compliance with Chinese and destination country import/export regulations.

Customs Clearance & Documentation:
- Prepare and review shipping documents, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists.
- Liaise with Chinese customs authorities to ensure smooth clearance of goods.
- Stay up to date on customs regulations, tariffs, and trade policies affecting shipments to Africa.

Supplier & Warehouse Coordination:
- Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers in China to confirm shipping schedules.
- Oversee container loading, ensuring accuracy, quality checks, and proper packaging.
- Monitor warehouse and storage facilities to prevent delays and damages.

Cost Management & Reporting:
- Optimize shipping routes and costs to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.
- Track freight rates, import duties, and operational expenses to provide cost-saving recommendations.
- Maintain records of shipments and prepare logistics performance reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in international freight forwarding, shipping, or logistics operations.
- Strong knowledge of Chinese customs regulations, INCOTERMS, and international shipping procedures.
- Experience with shipping documentation, customs clearance, and working with freight carriers.
- Proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese (written and spoken) is required.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to build relationships with shipping companies and suppliers.
- Proficiency in freight management software and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Africa-bound shipments and trade lanes is a strong advantage.
