Job Description

Wigmore Trading, a dynamic and fast-growing trading company based in Lagos, Nigeria, is seeking an experienced Oil and Gas Trader to join our team. This role involves managing and growing trading operations in crude oil, refined petroleum products, and natural gas. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of global energy markets, excellent negotiation skills, and a proven track record in trading commodities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Trading Activities: Manage the end-to-end trading of crude oil, refined petroleum products, and gas, including sourcing, pricing, and sales.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor global and regional oil and gas markets to identify trading opportunities and trends.
  • Negotiation: Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, buyers, and trading counterparties, negotiating favorable terms and contracts.
  • Risk Management: Evaluate and manage risks associated with trading activities, including market, credit, and operational risks.
  • Logistics Coordination: Collaborate with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of products, resolving any operational challenges.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all trading activities adhere to local and international regulations and industry standards.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track trading performance and profitability, preparing regular reports for management.
  • Business Development: Expand the company’s trading portfolio by identifying new suppliers, customers, and market segments.

Requirements:

  • Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree or industry certification is a plus.
  • Professional Experience: At least 5 years of experience in oil and gas trading, with a successful track record of profitable deals.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the oil and gas value chain, global energy markets, and trading instruments.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong ability to negotiate contracts and close deals under competitive conditions.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficient in analyzing market data and trends to make informed trading decisions.
  • Network: Established relationships with suppliers, buyers, and key stakeholders in the oil and gas industry.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with Nigerian oil and gas industry regulations and international trade compliance.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using trading platforms, market analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure trading environment.
