Role Overview

African Land is seeking an experienced and organized Property Manager to oversee its residential and commercial property portfolio in Antananarivo. The successful candidate will manage day-to-day property operations, ensure tenant satisfaction, coordinate maintenance, and deliver financial and operational excellence.

This position requires a professional with strong leadership, communication, and financial management skills who can uphold African Land’s reputation for quality service and efficient property management in Madagascar.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties in Antananarivo.

  • Manage tenant relations, handle lease administration, renewals, and rent collection.

  • Supervise property maintenance, repairs, and vendor contracts.

  • Develop and manage annual operating budgets, tracking expenses and revenues.

  • Conduct property inspections to ensure safety, maintenance, and aesthetic standards.

  • Prepare monthly reports on occupancy, financial performance, and maintenance activity.

  • Collaborate with marketing teams to manage vacant listings and attract tenants.

  • Ensure compliance with local real estate laws, health, and safety regulations.

  • Represent African Land in discussions with landlords, tenants, and regulatory authorities.


Qualifications & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Business Administration, Facilities Management, or a related field.

  • Professional certification (e.g., RICS, IFMA, or Property Management accreditation) is advantageous.

  • Benchmark universities for candidate caliber:

    • University of Antananarivo – Economics, Law, or Management

    • Institut Supérieur de Management (INSCAE) – Business or Accounting

    • Université Catholique de Madagascar – Finance or Management

    • Université de Toamasina – Urban Planning or Economics

    • Comparable regional universities such as the University of Nairobi, University of Lagos, or University of Cape Town reflect the academic standard sought.


Skills & Experience

  • 4–7 years of experience in property or facilities management.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, service contracts, and maintenance programs.

  • Strong understanding of Madagascar’s property laws and tenancy regulations.

  • Excellent communication and tenant relationship management skills.

  • Fluent in French and Malagasy (English proficiency is a strong advantage).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, property management systems, and accounting software.

  • Organized, analytical, and capable of working across multiple properties.
