A restaurant POS system should help your team take accurate orders, manage payment records and understand what is happening in the business. When comparing restaurant POS systems in Nigeria, start with your workflow and reporting needs before looking at a touchscreen or feature list. Wigmore Trading accepts enquiries to assess hospitality technology sourcing and integration requirements.

Whether you operate a single café, hotel restaurant, cloud kitchen or multi-outlet business, prepare a clear brief. Use our hospitality supplies enquiry to discuss the requirement, including any specialist software vendor or implementation support needed.

Distinguish restaurant software from a payment terminal

A card-payment terminal and a restaurant order-management system perform different functions, even when connected. Confirm whether an offer covers order entry, table management, kitchen tickets, payment acceptance, receipts, stock and reporting—or only some of these tasks.

Payment processing arrangements should be confirmed with the proposed provider, including settlement, fees, transaction records and dispute support. Do not assume that a software subscription automatically includes a merchant account or every payment method.

Map the service from order to reconciliation

Write down how orders reach the kitchen, how changes are approved and how the customer pays. Include dine-in, takeaway, delivery, split bills, discounts, refunds and voids where relevant. A useful demonstration follows a real service scenario rather than simply browsing a dashboard.

Need What to demonstrate
Order accuracy Modifiers, course timing, kitchen routing and corrections
Payment records Supported methods, receipts, reconciliation and controlled refunds
Stock Recipe or item deductions, purchases, waste and stock counts
Management User permissions, audit trails, outlet reports and exports
Continuity Connectivity interruption, backups and recovery procedures

Check offline operation and equipment compatibility

Ask exactly what continues working if the internet fails and what needs to be reconciled when it returns. “Offline capable” can describe very different behaviour. Test the relevant functions with the proposed vendor and agree the limits in writing.

Confirm compatibility with printers, kitchen displays, scanners, drawers and existing network equipment. Include power protection, connectivity and device placement in the installation plan. A low software price may exclude the hardware and site work needed to operate reliably.

Make inventory features practical

Inventory reporting depends on accurate recipes, portion sizes, purchase units and routine counts. Ask how the system handles ingredients used in several dishes, wastage, transfers, supplier deliveries and changes to recipes. Decide who maintains the data and checks discrepancies.

For hotels or groups, clarify whether the restaurant system must connect to a property-management platform, accounts package or central reporting system. Request written confirmation of supported integrations, charges and responsibility for maintaining them.

Protect business and customer information

Define access by role so staff can perform their work without unnecessary administrative privileges. Ask about audit logs, backup ownership, data export, retention and the process for ending the contract. Your business should understand how to retrieve its information if it changes providers.

Where customer or staff personal information is processed, obtain an appropriate privacy and security review for the proposed arrangement. Avoid collecting more information than the operation needs, and agree responsibilities between your business and the vendor.

Compare the full contract and implementation

Request an itemised offer covering setup, devices, subscriptions, support, training, integrations and any transaction-related charges. Ask what happens when adding outlets, devices or users. Confirm support hours, escalation routes and the practical response available in your location.

Plan menu setup, opening balances, migration, staff training and a controlled launch. Keep a fallback service procedure for the transition and agree acceptance tests before retiring the old system.

Run a controlled pilot before rollout

Test the proposed configuration with a small, representative part of the business before extending it to every outlet. Include end-of-day reconciliation, amended orders, refunds and a connectivity interruption in the trial. Record problems and agree their resolution with the implementation provider.

Assign a business owner for menu changes, user access, stock settings and reporting. Software can support controls, but the restaurant still needs people responsible for maintaining information and reviewing exceptions. Include this ownership in training and handover.

Send a hospitality technology brief

Tell Wigmore Trading your outlet type, location, number of tills and outlets, menu complexity, current systems and required launch date. Include mandatory integrations, payment requirements and budget parameters. We can assess the enquiry and clarify appropriate sourcing or specialist implementation options.
