Buying cars, trucks, buses and motorcycle parts from the United States starts with a clear specification and an identified receiving market. Wigmore Trading can assess a sourcing or logistics brief and clarify what is needed for a written offer. A guide or product list is not confirmation of stock, supplier appointment or approval to trade a particular item.
Define the requirement before requesting prices
Set out the vehicle class, intended use, model range, year, condition, steering position and destination. For fleets, list payload, seating or route requirements. Motorcycles, trailers, special-purpose vehicles and tyres need their own specifications; they should not be treated as interchangeable additions to a passenger-car enquiry.
Verify identity, ownership and condition
Ask for the VIN or other identification, ownership documents, condition report and relevant service history. Agree an independent inspection and check how accident, flood, salvage or lien issues will be addressed. Parts orders need the exact vehicle and component references. Tyres need size, load and speed requirements, condition and production details, with eligibility confirmed for the destination.
Products to distinguish in your enquiry
The following are separate specification lines. Identify the exact product, grade or model and intended use rather than requesting an undifferentiated mixed shipment.
- Cars
- Motor vehicles; parts and accessories (8701 to 8705)
- Delivery Trucks
- Rubber Tires
- Trailers and semi-trailers, not mechanically propelled vehicles
- Special purpose motor vehicles
- Motorcycles and cycles
- Bi-Wheel Vehicle Parts
- Buses
Confirm export and destination acceptance before purchase
Have the exporter establish the applicable filing, title and presentation requirements for the specific vehicle and departure point. Check destination age, condition, emissions and registration rules before paying a supplier. Compare roll-on/roll-off and container options using the actual vehicle dimensions and condition. Clarify who provides port handling, insurance, clearance, unloading and final delivery.
Compare the full commercial scope
Ask each supplier to quote the same specification, quantity, condition, packing basis and named delivery point. List the currency, quote validity, inspection scope, payment milestones and treatment of non-conforming goods. Request actual packed dimensions and gross weights before comparing freight options.
Keep product price separate from collection, export preparation, freight, insurance, destination charges, duties, storage and final delivery. Identify the party responsible for each stage. Do not pay for a shipment whose destination acceptance or essential technical specification is still unresolved.
Prepare a sourcing brief
Send the specification or catalogue reference, quantity and expected repeat demand, receiving location, required date and any supporting drawings or quality requirements. Say whether the enquiry is for an approved replacement, a new production input or resale. Ask for the manufacturer and origin to be identified; a source-country dispatch address alone does not establish origin.
For the official starting point, review CBP vehicle export guidance and confirm the pathway for your exact product and destination with the responsible parties.
Use the US sourcing directory to compare related product guides, or the US commercial shipping guide when preparing cargo details.
Discuss your requirement with Wigmore Trading
Send the product or cargo specification, quantity, destination and required date. Tell us whether you need supplier search, procurement coordination, inspection coordination, consolidation or freight. Availability, scope, responsibilities and prices are confirmed for the actual enquiry.
