Buying industrial minerals, ores and recycling materials from the United States starts with a clear specification and an identified receiving market. Wigmore Trading can assess a sourcing or logistics brief and clarify what is needed for a written offer. A guide or product list is not confirmation of stock, supplier appointment or approval to trade a particular item.
Define the requirement before requesting prices
State the mineral or material, source, assay, moisture, particle size, contaminants and commercial quantity. Ores, processed minerals and scrap are different buying propositions. A headline metal content does not describe recovery costs, unwanted constituents or whether the destination plant can use the material.
Agree how the commercial sample will be taken
Use a sampling and testing method appropriate to the lot, with an agreed laboratory and a process for resolving differences. For scrap and residues, define the permitted composition and exclusions. Ask for recent photographs and inspection of the actual material, but do not substitute photographs for assay or contamination evidence. For kaolin, abrasives and glass fibres, specify the industrial performance requirements as well as composition.
Products to distinguish in your enquiry
The following are separate specification lines. Identify the exact product, grade or model and intended use rather than requesting an undifferentiated mixed shipment.
- Scrap Iron
- Scrap Copper
- Non-Iron and Steel Slag, Ash and Residues
- Scrap Aluminium
- Copper Ore
- Iron Ore
- Zinc Ore
- Glass Fibers
- Other Stone Articles
- Molybdenum Ore
- Lead Ore
- Kaolin
- Abrasive Powder
Resolve material status before arranging freight
Establish whether the shipment is a product, recyclable material, by-product or waste under the applicable rules. Identify the permitted receiving facility and any required authorisations before purchase. Define weighing, moisture deductions, packing and settlement in the commercial terms. A freight booking does not establish that an international waste movement is permitted.
Compare the full commercial scope
Ask each supplier to quote the same specification, quantity, condition, packing basis and named delivery point. List the currency, quote validity, inspection scope, payment milestones and treatment of non-conforming goods. Request actual packed dimensions and gross weights before comparing freight options.
Keep product price separate from collection, export preparation, freight, insurance, destination charges, duties, storage and final delivery. Identify the party responsible for each stage. Do not pay for a shipment whose destination acceptance or essential technical specification is still unresolved.
Prepare a sourcing brief
Send the specification or catalogue reference, quantity and expected repeat demand, receiving location, required date and any supporting drawings or quality requirements. Say whether the enquiry is for an approved replacement, a new production input or resale. Ask for the manufacturer and origin to be identified; a source-country dispatch address alone does not establish origin.
Use the US sourcing directory to compare related product guides, or the US commercial shipping guide when preparing cargo details.
Discuss your requirement with Wigmore Trading
Send the product or cargo specification, quantity, destination and required date. Tell us whether you need supplier search, procurement coordination, inspection coordination, consolidation or freight. Availability, scope, responsibilities and prices are confirmed for the actual enquiry.
