Refined palm oil and palm derivatives should be purchased for a defined process, not selected only by a broad product name. A food manufacturer, soap producer and industrial processor can need different fractions, quality evidence and handling. Wigmore Trading accepts enquiries for sourcing and supply planning in Nigeria.
Send the exact material, intended application, quantity and destination. Product availability, source, technical suitability and delivery terms should be established in the offer and approved by the responsible buyer.
Distinguish the products in your enquiry
Palm olein is the liquid fraction from palm oil fractionation; palm stearin is the higher-melting fraction. Refined palm kernel oil is a different product derived from PKO. PFAD is a refining co-product. These names should not be treated as interchangeable purchasing descriptions.
The Codex reference provides product definitions for named vegetable oils. Presco’s own product page also describes its range, including refined oil, olein, stearin, CPKO, RPKO and PFAD. That reference does not establish stock, a Wigmore distributorship or current contract terms.
Write an application-specific specification
For food use, describe the finished product, processing conditions and quality requirements set by your technical team. For cosmetics, soap, pharmaceuticals or industrial processes, request documentation and suitability evidence for the exact intended application.
A label such as “RBD palm oil”, “cosmetic grade” or “pharmaceutical grade” is not enough by itself. Define the measurable acceptance criteria, relevant standards and evidence required before a sample is approved.
Build a comparable bulk quotation
| Item | What to specify |
|---|---|
| Material | Exact oil, fraction or co-product and processing condition |
| Performance | Technical characteristics relevant to the application |
| Quality evidence | Batch certificate, methods, source and traceability |
| Handling | Packaging, storage, delivery and unloading requirements |
| Commercial basis | Quantity, currency, price validity and delivery point |
Approve samples before changing a formulation
Have qualified technical staff evaluate the proposed material in the intended process. An alternative fraction or supplier may affect performance, handling or the finished product. Record the approved specification and any controlled substitution rules.
Agree whether approval applies to a particular batch, product range or recurring source. Keep sample and test references so later deliveries can be compared with the accepted material.
Treat PFAD and biodiesel enquiries separately
For PFAD or palm-based biodiesel projects, define the feedstock, process and required product specification with competent specialists. A commercially available oil derivative should not automatically be treated as an approved feedstock or a finished fuel.
Assess supply consistency, applicable requirements, process design and offtake before committing capital. Avoid assuming environmental or certification claims apply without product- and supply-chain-specific evidence.
Confirm the supply role and documentation
Ask whether the proposed counterparty produces, refines, distributes or trades the material. Confirm the contracting entity, manufacturing source where relevant and payment destination. Do not infer authorised brand status from a company name appearing in a marketing article.
Use the buyer and supplier qualification guide for named-company checks. For raw palm oil or PKO, refer to the palm oil and kernel oil guides.
Plan delivery and repeat supply
Provide the receiving location, operating hours, unloading constraints and storage specification. Have any specialised handling system reviewed for the proposed material. Agree how packaging and transport protect the product from contamination.
For contract supply, include forecasts, call-off volumes, lead times, batch acceptance and the response to an unavailable grade. A clear supply schedule makes price and service comparisons more useful than a vague request for “best rate”.
