Job Overview:
Wigmore Trading is seeking an experienced and dynamic International Logistics Agent to join our team in Apapa, Lagos, Nigeria. In this executive-level role, you will work with partners and third-party organizations to facilitate shipping and import/export operations on a global scale. Your primary responsibility will be to establish and maintain strategic partnerships—both globally and across Africa—to ensure the efficient international shipping of a diverse range of products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage relationships with global and African partners, including freight forwarders, shipping lines, and logistics service providers.
- Oversee import and export processes to ensure compliance with international shipping regulations, trade laws, and customs requirements.
- Identify and negotiate contracts with third-party logistics providers to optimize shipping routes, costs, and delivery timelines.
- Provide strategic guidance on global logistics trends, identifying new markets and opportunities for expansion.
- Coordinate with internal teams to resolve shipping issues, track shipments, and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the shipping and logistics industry, including emerging trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Ensure cost-effective and efficient shipping solutions by analyzing logistics data and optimizing operational workflows.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the supply chain and streamline import/export processes.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to build and strengthen partnerships.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in logistics, shipping, or supply chain management, with at least 3 years in an executive or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of international shipping regulations, import/export compliance, and African trade frameworks.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships across diverse markets.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex logistical challenges.
- Familiarity with logistics software and tools is an advantage.
- Flexibility to travel locally and internationally as needed.
