About the Role
African Land is hiring a technically proficient HVAC & Power Systems Technician to oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and standby generator systems across our managed properties in Accra. This role is critical to ensuring climate control efficiency and uninterrupted power supply for tenants and operations.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of mechanical systems, electrical wiring, and control systems with practical experience servicing both HVAC units and diesel/petrol-powered generators.
Key Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair air conditioning systems, including split, central, and package units.

Conduct periodic inspection, testing, and servicing of standby generators (e.g., diesel gensets).

Troubleshoot faults in HVAC compressors, thermostats, fans, ductwork, and refrigerant systems.

Perform generator load testing, oil/filter changes, battery checks, and control panel diagnostics.

Respond promptly to breakdowns and conduct emergency repairs to minimize service disruption.

Support energy efficiency initiatives and recommend system upgrades where needed.

Keep detailed maintenance logs, service schedules, and performance records.

Ensure compliance with Ghana’s safety and environmental standards for HVAC and power equipment.

Collaborate with the Facilities Manager to plan preventive maintenance and reduce downtime.
Qualifications
-
Technical diploma or certification in HVAC Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Installation.

Trade licenses or accredited training in generator servicing and refrigeration systems are highly preferred.
Experience
-
Minimum 3–5 years of field experience maintaining HVAC systems and power generators.

Familiarity with major HVAC brands (e.g., Daikin, LG, Carrier) and generator types (e.g., Perkins, CAT, FG Wilson).

Experience working in commercial or multi-unit residential buildings.
Skills & Competencies

Proficient in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and control system faults.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

Physically fit with the ability to lift equipment and work in hot or enclosed environments.

Strong attention to safety, quality, and preventive maintenance protocols.

Good communication and documentation skills.
