Wigmore Trading is a fast-growing company operating across multiple sectors including commodities, distribution, logistics, and services across Africa.

As part of our expansion strategy, the company is launching a skills development and workforce training platform focused on apprenticeships, job placement, and practical vocational training for young people and underemployed graduates.

We are seeking a professional to build and scale this workforce development initiative.


Role Summary

The Head of Skills & Workforce Development will lead Wigmore Trading’s training, apprenticeship, and job placement programs aimed at connecting young talent with employment opportunities.

The role focuses on developing training programs, building employer partnerships, and creating scalable models for skills development and job placement.


Key Responsibilities

Program Development

  • Design apprenticeship and vocational training programs aligned with employer needs.

  • Develop training courses focused on sales, customer service, logistics operations, and technical skills.

  • Build systems to track training outcomes and job placements.

Employer Partnerships

  • Build partnerships with SMEs and corporate employers seeking trained staff.

  • Develop employer subscription programs for access to verified talent.

  • Coordinate job placement opportunities for program graduates.

Training & Curriculum

  • Develop practical, job-ready training programs delivered through in-person workshops and digital tools.

  • Implement mentorship and apprenticeship pathways.

Operations & Growth

  • Build partnerships with training providers, universities, and professional organizations.

  • Develop scalable models including income-linked tuition or employer-sponsored training.


Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

Experience

  • 5–8 years of experience in workforce development, training programs, recruitment, or education initiatives.

  • Experience working with employers and job placement programs.

Skills

  • Strong partnership development and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience designing training programs or professional development initiatives.

  • Strong organizational and leadership capability.
