Our Construction Training School in Lagos provides hands-on training in various construction trades, equipping trainees with the technical skills needed for high-quality workmanship and career advancement in the industry.

We are seeking experienced Construction Instructors to train and mentor students in different construction disciplines, including masonry, carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, welding, heavy machinery operation, and general construction safety.

Role Overview

The Construction Instructor will be responsible for delivering practical and theoretical training to students, ensuring they gain the skills required for employment in the construction sector. The role requires industry experience, technical expertise, and a passion for teaching.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instruction & Training:

    • Teach students the fundamentals of construction in their specialized trade (masonry, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, welding, etc.).
    • Provide hands-on demonstrations and supervise practical training sessions.
    • Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessment criteria.
    • Ensure students follow safety procedures and industry best practices.
  • Curriculum Development & Training Materials:

    • Assist in developing and updating course curricula to align with industry standards.
    • Prepare training manuals, presentations, and practical assessment guides.
    • Incorporate modern construction techniques and technologies into training.
  • Student Assessment & Mentorship:

    • Assess student progress through tests, assignments, and practical evaluations.
    • Provide mentorship and career guidance to students entering the construction workforce.
    • Offer constructive feedback and recommend additional skill development where necessary.
  • Workplace Safety & Compliance:

    • Teach construction safety standards, risk management, and proper tool handling.
    • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations in training environments.
    • Demonstrate and enforce best practices for PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) use.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in one or more construction trades (masonry, carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, welding, heavy equipment operation, etc.).
  • Technical or vocational certification in a relevant construction field.
  • Prior experience as an Instructor, Trainer, Foreman, or Supervisor in the construction industry is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian building codes, industry regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging lessons, both theoretical and practical.
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
  • Familiarity with modern construction equipment, materials, and technologies.
  • Passion for workforce development and skills transfer in the construction industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • Certification in Occupational Health & Safety (HSE) is a plus.
  • Experience with heavy machinery operation (for relevant instructors).
