Role Overview
We are seeking an exceptional Quantity Surveyor of the highest professional and academic caliber to join our Lagos-based team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in cost planning, procurement, contract administration, and commercial control across multiple development and construction projects.
This role is suited to a QS who is analytically strong, commercially astute, and confident operating at senior level across consultants, contractors, and developers.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost plans, estimates, and budgets from concept through construction.

Develop Bills of Quantities (BOQs), schedules of rates, and tender documentation.

Lead procurement processes, including tender analysis, contractor evaluation, and appointment recommendations.

Manage project costs throughout the construction lifecycle, ensuring alignment with approved budgets.

Prepare valuations, interim payment certificates, and final accounts.

Monitor variations, claims, and change control, ensuring commercial risks are identified and mitigated early.

Support contract administration under standard forms of contract.

Provide accurate cost reporting, cash flow forecasts, and value-engineering advice.

Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and site teams to ensure commercial discipline.

Ensure compliance with African Land’s internal commercial controls and reporting standards.
Required Qualifications
-
B.Sc/B.Tech and M.Sc (or M.Tech) in Quantity Surveying from a recognised, competitive institution.

5–10+ years of proven professional experience delivering construction and development projects, preferably in Lagos.

Strong experience across pre-contract and post-contract quantity surveying functions.

Demonstrated ability to manage costs on complex residential, commercial, or mixed-use projects.

Excellent understanding of construction methods, measurement standards, and procurement strategies.

Professional Registration (Highly Advantageous)

Membership of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS)

Registration with the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN) (or actively in progress)
Technical & Software Skills

Strong proficiency in measurement and BOQ preparation.

Experience using QS and cost management tools (e.g. CostX, PlanSwift, WinQS, or similar).

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for cost analysis and reporting.

Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings with high accuracy.

Strong documentation, reporting, and contract administration skills.
