Organic acid feed additives are bought for several different jobs: feed hygiene, preservation, digestive support or a specific formulation requirement. The name of an acid alone does not identify a finished product’s suitability. Wigmore Trading helps Nigerian feed buyers source documented products and clarify the exact grade, formulation and application route before ordering.

If you need a liquid feed acidifier, powder feed acidifier, buffered acidifier or premix-compatible product, explain where it will be added and what you expect it to achieve. Include the species and production stage. A concentrated raw acid and a formulated animal-nutrition product require different evaluation and handling.

Feed grade comes before price

Request the intended-use label and quality specification for the exact product. Feed-grade and industrial-grade materials must not be treated as interchangeable. A supplier catalogue may contain formic acid for leather processing alongside animal-feed products; the shared chemical name does not authorise substitution into a ration.

For propionic, formic, butyric, benzoic, citric, lactic or acetic acid enquiries, state whether you are purchasing a raw material for controlled manufacture or a ready-formulated additive. Ask for composition, purity or active-content information, contaminants specification and batch documentation relevant to the proposed use.

Liquid, powder, buffered or coated?

The useful choice depends on your process. A liquid may need a compatible metering and spraying system. A powder must be mixed uniformly through the intended batch. A buffered blend changes how a formulation is presented and handled; it is not a blanket assurance of harmlessness. Coated products have a different delivery concept that should be checked against the manufacturer’s evidence.

Ask your technical adviser to review the existing recipe and application equipment before selecting a format. Consider storage space, measuring accuracy, operator training and how the product will be incorporated into routine batch records. Convenience must sit alongside feed safety and formulation compatibility.

Addeasy acidifier enquiries

The current Addeasy digestive-nutrition literature identifies Vitacid for poultry, Premacid for premixes and Extramet as a nutritional liquid acidifier containing methionine hydroxy analogue. These are distinct formulations. Confirm the current technical sheet and offered pack, especially if your request refers to Extramet S or an older regional brochure.

Methionine supply and acidification should be evaluated within the complete ration by a qualified nutritionist. Do not deduct a conventional methionine source merely because an acidifier mentions MHA. The contribution depends on the actual product specification and the formulation method used for the animal group.

Hygiene claims need defined conditions

For a feed hygiene acidifier, ask which organisms and conditions were evaluated and whether the evidence applies to your ingredient and process. An antimicrobial claim does not establish complete sterilisation or justify accepting failed raw materials. Specify the monitoring and acceptance criteria with the people responsible for feed quality.

Requests for Salmonella or E. coli control should include the sampling point, test method and corrective-action plan. Acidifiers may form part of a wider hygiene programme when appropriately supported; they are not substitutes for cleaning, raw-material controls or veterinary investigation of sick animals.

Do not improvise acid blending or application

Use the supplied label, safety data and written technical instructions for the exact product. Do not mix raw acids or combine products on the assumption that more acid gives better results. Check equipment materials and other additives for compatibility through the appropriate technical sources.

When comparing quotations, put concentration, approved use, packaging and application costs on a common basis. A low price per litre can be misleading if the product differs in active content or needs extra equipment. Ask for the usable shelf life remaining at delivery and the conditions under which it must be stored.

Request a product-specific quote

Send Wigmore Trading the desired product, feed or water application, species, quantity, delivery city and current formulation or label. We can discuss sourcing and supply terms for Lagos, Abuja and other Nigerian locations, with international enquiries assessed for the destination. Availability and applicable documents are confirmed before an order is accepted.

Manufacturer and reference information

Product information must be checked against current manufacturer documents and the requirements for the exact formulation and destination. Your veterinarian, nutritionist or quality adviser should review the proposed use.
