Searching for an investment opportunity in a Senegal oil block can mean several different things: acquiring a participating interest, supplying an operator, providing a specialist service or financing infrastructure. Those routes involve different counterparties and evidence. Start by identifying the transaction you actually want to pursue.
Wigmore Trading welcomes enquiries about project procurement, equipment sourcing, commercial research and logistics scope. This guide does not offer petroleum acreage, represent an operator or promise access to a government award. Current rights and transaction availability require direct verification.
Sangomar and Yakaar-Teranga are different projects
Woodside’s Sangomar project page identifies Woodside as operator alongside PETROSEN and records first oil in June 2024. That provides context for research; it is not evidence that an equity interest, cargo or supply contract is available for sale.
For Yakaar-Teranga, older material naming BP or Kosmos should not be treated as a current ownership register. PETROSEN’s published project history describes changes in the earlier partnership. Obtain the latest government and company documents before relying on a historical ownership percentage or development timetable.
Resolve the block name before assessing the deal
Cayar Offshore, Cayar Offshore Profond, Saint-Louis Offshore and Saint-Louis Offshore Profond are not interchangeable references. Likewise, a discovery name, exploitation area and wider exploration block may describe different legal or geographic interests. Request the precise licence identifier, coordinates, instrument and effective date.
| Search term or area | Evidence to obtain |
|---|---|
| Cayar and Yakaar-Teranga | Current licence perimeter, holders and development approvals |
| Sangomar and RSSD | Exact interest or procurement scope and authorised counterparty |
| Rufisque Offshore Profond and Saint-Louis | Current government register and contract history |
| Djiffer, Diender, Gadiaga and Sadiaratou | Verified spelling, licence status, rights holder and relevant operating evidence |
Do not infer that a name in an old basin map is unallocated or open to investment. The same discipline applies to keyword combinations naming Oranto, TotalEnergies, Petronas or Fortesa: a historical association needs current confirmation.
Separate equity entry from vendor entry
An equity or farm-in assessment needs legal title, transfer restrictions, government approvals, liabilities and independent technical review. A vendor enquiry needs an identifiable tender or procurement channel, qualification requirements, scope, delivery schedule and payment terms. Supplier registration does not guarantee a contract.
For a gas-development proposal, distinguish an exploration resource from an approved development, a funded project and an operating facility. Review offtake assumptions, infrastructure dependencies, capital requirements and decommissioning obligations with qualified advisers.
Prepare a credible procurement brief
Specify the equipment or service, project phase, technical standard, quantities, delivery point and required documents. Offshore equipment may need inspection, certification, preservation and specialist transport. A general supplier brochure is not a substitute for an operator-approved specification.
Wigmore can review sourcing and logistics enquiries within an agreed scope. Any claimed manufacturer appointment, operator mandate or local delivery capability should be supported before it is included in a proposal.
Can I buy a Senegal block through this page?
No acreage is offered here. Establish the formal process and authorised counterparties before any transaction discussion.
What should I send first?
Provide the exact project or licence reference, your intended role, the document date and the procurement or research scope. Redact confidential deal material until an appropriate handling arrangement is agreed.
Prepare a useful enquiry
Note the project location, intended role, current stage, product or service specification, quantities, delivery point and timetable. Separate confirmed facts from assumptions and identify documents that still need verification. Start with a non-confidential brief; do not submit credentials, personal medical records or restricted project files through a general sales enquiry.
This checklist is for your own preparation and does not submit information.
