About the Role

African Land is seeking a tech-savvy and solutions-oriented Smart Building Systems Technician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot smart technologies and automation systems across our managed properties in Accra. This role supports the functionality of modern infrastructure systems, including smart access controls, CCTV, IoT devices, lighting automation, and building management systems (BMS).

This is an ideal role for a technician with hands-on experience in integrated smart technologies, IT-networked systems, and electronic control units in commercial or residential real estate.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and configure smart building technologies including access control, security cameras, lighting, motion sensors, and automation hubs.

• Conduct regular diagnostics and preventative maintenance on smart systems to ensure full functionality.

• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to building automation and control systems.

• Support the integration of new smart technologies across properties under development or upgrade.

• Monitor performance of connected systems and respond to alerts or malfunctions promptly.

• Collaborate with IT teams, vendors, and facilities managers to maintain system reliability and cybersecurity.

• Maintain accurate documentation for system layouts, wiring diagrams, configurations, and support logs.

• Train onsite personnel or facility teams on how to operate basic features of smart systems.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, IT Systems, or Smart Technology.

• Certification in BMS, IoT, automation, or structured cabling is a strong advantage.

Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in smart systems installation, home automation, or building technologies.

• Hands-on experience with smart access control, IP CCTV, structured cabling, or IoT-based building automation.

• Familiarity with brands like Hikvision, Dahua, Schneider, KNX, or similar smart ecosystem providers.

Skills & Competencies

• Technical proficiency in electronics, system diagnostics, and IT-networked control units.

• Knowledge of data privacy, cybersecurity, and digital access protocols.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

• Willingness to stay updated with emerging technologies in smart infrastructure.
