Job Summary
African Land is seeking an experienced, highly qualified Medical General Practitioner (GP) to join our team of clinicians in Lagos. The ideal candidate will deliver comprehensive, high-quality medical care across diverse patient cases in a small-clinic environment. You will manage patient consultations, diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions, coordinate referrals, and support overall clinic health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct patient consultations, history taking, physical examinations, and diagnosis

Recommend and interpret appropriate laboratory tests and imaging
-
Prescribe treatment plans and medications based on evidence-based practice
-
Provide preventive health care, health education, and wellness guidance
-
Manage and follow up on chronic health conditions and routine medical cases
-
Coordinate referrals to specialists when necessary

Keep accurate and confidential medical records

Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, Nigerian medical regulations, and ethical standards
Required Qualifications & Experience
Academic & Professional Qualifications
-
Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS or MBChB) from a recognized and accredited medical university — preference for candidates from Nigeria’s top-ranked medical schools such as:

University of Ibadan (UI)

University of Lagos (UNILAG)
-
Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU)
-
University of Nigeria (UNN)
-
Ahmadu Bello University (ABU)
(These institutions are widely regarded as among the best for medical training in Nigeria)

Completion of a one-year Housemanship/Internship in an accredited hospital
-
Full registration and practicing license with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN)

Current practicing license and evidence of continuing professional development

Postgraduate clinical experience or advanced training (e.g., postgraduate diploma in Family Medicine, Membership/Fellowship of West African College of Physicians (MWACP/FWACP), or equivalent) is highly desirable
Experience
-
Minimum 3–5 years post-qualification clinical experience as a GP or in a comparable medical role
-
Experience working in a primary care or outpatient clinic setting

Demonstrated ability to manage a broad range of general medical cases
Skills & Competencies

Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic skills

Excellent communication and patient-care skills

Familiarity with local health systems, community health practices, and Nigerian medical protocols

Ability to work independently and collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams

Commitment to patient confidentiality, safety, and ethical care
