Job Summary

African Land is seeking a highly qualified, experienced Medical General Practitioner (GP) to provide exceptional patient care at our clinic in Accra. The ideal candidate must be a proactive clinician with strong diagnostic skills, excellent patient communication, and a dedication to preventive and community health.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct patient consultations, taking detailed histories and performing thorough examinations

• Diagnose and manage a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions

• Order and interpret appropriate laboratory investigations and imaging studies

• Prescribe evidence-based treatment plans and medications

• Provide health education and preventive care counseling

• Manage referrals to specialists where necessary

• Maintain accurate, confidential medical records

• Ensure compliance with medical, ethical, and regulatory standards

Required Qualifications & Experience

Academic Qualifications

• Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or equivalent from a recognized and accredited medical school in Ghana or internationally (e.g., University of Ghana Medical School, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University for Development Studies, University of Cape Coast, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Accra College of Medicine)

• Completion of mandatory housemanship/internship as required by the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana (MDC)

Professional Registration & Licensing

• Full registration and current practicing license with the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana (MDC) (proof of registration required)

Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years of post-qualification clinical experience as a GP or equivalent medical role

• Experience in outpatient clinic settings, patient management, and emergency response

Postgraduate Training (Highly Desirable)

• Membership or Fellowship training (e.g., Membership of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, postgraduate diploma in Family Medicine or related areas) — candidates with postgraduate credentials in family medicine or internal medicine are preferred

• Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development

• Ability to work independently and manage diverse clinical cases
