About the Role

African Land is hiring dedicated and knowledgeable Landscape and Grounds Maintenance Officers to care for and enhance the green spaces across our residential and commercial properties in Accra. This role is key to maintaining clean, attractive, and environmentally healthy surroundings for tenants and visitors.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on gardening experience, a strong understanding of plant care and outdoor maintenance, and a commitment to quality landscaping.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily upkeep of gardens, lawns, hedges, flower beds, and trees within the property grounds.

  • Plant, water, prune, trim, and fertilize plants as needed throughout the seasons.

  • Use and maintain landscaping equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, and irrigation systems.

  • Remove weeds, debris, and litter from landscaped areas and walkways.

  • Report pest infestations or plant diseases and support appropriate treatments.

  • Monitor health of plants and ensure all greenery is well-maintained and visually appealing.

  • Assist in landscaping improvement projects such as redesign, replanting, or hardscape installation.

  • Comply with safety standards and environmental best practices during all maintenance activities.


Qualifications

  • Basic education or vocational training in horticulture, landscaping, or a related field is an advantage.

  • Certification in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or pest control is a plus.


Experience

  • Minimum of 1–3 years’ experience in gardening or landscaping roles.

  • Previous experience working in estates, commercial buildings, hotels, or facility environments is preferred.


Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of local plant types, soil conditions, and climate-related care practices.

  • Ability to operate and maintain manual and powered gardening tools.

  • Good physical condition, with the ability to lift, bend, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Reliable, punctual, and attentive to detail.

  • Willingness to follow schedules, instructions, and safety procedures consistently.
