If you live abroad but operate or support a business in Nigeria, sending a well-planned supply order can be more useful than sending an unstructured budget. Wigmore Trading can help you turn a business shopping list into a sourcing and delivery enquiry, whether you are restocking a Lagos shop, equipping a school or arranging supplies for a hotel or clinic.

The best starting point is an approved list of goods and an accountable local recipient. Before committing funds, separate startup equipment from consumable stock, confirm what is available locally, and identify items that require specialist approval, installation or after-sales support.

Choose a supply plan for the business

Business Prepare these specifications Acceptance checks
Shop or family business Fast-moving product mix, pack sizes, quantities and reorder budget Carton counts, expiry dates where applicable, agreed substitutions
Hotel Housekeeping products, linen sizes, guest amenities and food-service requirements Samples, material specifications, storage and repeat-supply consistency
School Furniture dimensions, age suitability, learning equipment and power needs Assembly scope, safe use, receiving schedule and inventory labels
Clinic Clinician-approved equipment list, intended use, exact models and consumables Applicable product registration, supplier credentials, calibration and support scope

Stock a Lagos shop from overseas

A useful opening order reflects the customers and available shelf space. Ask the local manager for recent sales, stock-outs and slow-moving lines. Buying a larger quantity simply because the carton price is lower can tie up cash in products that do not sell. Compare the landed cost per saleable unit and remaining shelf life, rather than just the foreign-currency basket total.

For a family business, agree who can approve a change of brand or quantity. The payer should receive the final approved list, invoice and delivery record. The local business should check the order on arrival and report shortages or damaged goods within the agreed claims period.

Equip a clinic in Nigeria from abroad

Medical procurement needs a qualified local clinical lead. A generic equipment description may conceal major differences in intended use, accuracy, accessories and consumables. Request the exact model and manufacturer, documentation needed for the Nigerian supply route, warranty terms and the party responsible for installation, training or servicing.

Wigmore can scope a procurement enquiry; product eligibility and any licensed distribution or technical work must be confirmed for the items concerned. An overseas payment does not remove Nigerian regulatory requirements. Keep medicines, diagnostic devices and ordinary office supplies on separate schedules so each follows the appropriate approval and handling route.

Supply a school or restock a hotel

Schools should prepare room plans, pupil age ranges, dimensions, delivery access and whether assembly is required. Hotels should distinguish opening inventory from recurring housekeeping and food-service orders. Samples can help approve linen, toiletries or packaging before a large purchase. Define a repeat-order specification so later deliveries remain consistent.

Electrical equipment needs a suitable power supply and a practical maintenance plan. Refrigerated or temperature-sensitive goods require confirmed storage and transport conditions. Ask who accepts delivery, who arranges unloading and who signs off equipment performance if commissioning is included.

Set up a business and get it stocked

Goods supply is one part of opening a business. Premises, company and tax matters, sector permissions, staffing and working capital need their own plan. Do not treat a stock purchase as automatic business registration, permission to trade or a guarantee of income. Start with the intended business model, a budget split and a realistic opening sequence.

A staged supply order may be easier to control: approve essential equipment first, then opening stock, followed by replenishment once actual demand is visible. If items will be imported, settle documentation and the importer’s responsibilities before shipment. Warehousing or pallet storage can be discussed when the premises are not yet ready, subject to the goods and agreed storage terms.

Request a business supply proposal

Send Wigmore your business type, city, product schedule, preferred brands or acceptable alternatives, budget and currency, receiving contact and target date. Tell us which items need installation, training, cold storage or recurrent supply. We can help define what should be quoted and which responsibilities need a specialist provider.

Questions to settle before funding the order

Can the business receive the goods while I am abroad?

Name a responsible recipient and agree delivery evidence, inspection and shortage reporting. If several locations are involved, use a separate allocation for each so stock is not delivered to the wrong branch.

Is installation part of equipment supply?

Only where explicitly included. State your installation, training, calibration and servicing needs in the enquiry so the quotation identifies the provider and scope. Delivery alone is not commissioning.
