A Niger Delta swamp drilling enquiry needs an integrated view of the rig, site and marine movement. Swamp rig leasing is not simply an onshore rig rental with a boat added. Water levels, access channels, ground conditions, support arrangements and the well programme can all change the suitable package. Wigmore Trading can help scope a sourcing and logistics enquiry for specialist review.
Start with the site information available to your operator and engineering advisers. A commercial proposal should identify the specific rig or configuration under consideration and the conditions on which the offer depends. This page does not confirm a rig is available or that a proposed route is approved.
What information should a swamp drilling enquiry contain?
- The project region, application and approved well programme summary.
- Site and water-condition data, including relevant seasonal assumptions.
- Available surveys and access information for specialist assessment.
- Mobilisation origin, destination and proposed campaign window.
- Support-base, landing, storage, lifting and accommodation requirements.
- The requested scope: equipment, crewed rig, marine support or a defined combination.
Do not replace an engineering assessment with a general description such as “swamp project” or “Niger Delta location”. Request a gap list if the contractor cannot evaluate suitability from the information provided.
Swamp rig configuration and site suitability
The proposed configuration should be reviewed against both the drilling requirement and the location. Ground support, water conditions, access and marine interfaces need competent assessment. A rig’s previous use in another swamp area is useful experience, but it does not establish suitability for your site.
Ask the proposer to explain what must be surveyed, prepared or modified before mobilisation. Record technical deviations and the party authorised to accept them. Equipment branding, horsepower or a photograph alone cannot establish that the complete package is fit for the campaign.
Plan mobilisation as a separate work package
Swamp rig mobilisation can involve marine and land interfaces, different contractors and several handover points. Ask for a project-specific movement plan prepared by competent parties. Confirm the origin, access route, movement constraints, support craft, lifting arrangements, permits and site readiness assumptions.
Separate mobilisation readiness from operational readiness. Arrival near the site may still leave assembly, positioning, inspection and acceptance work. The contract should explain the required evidence and when each commercial milestone is reached.
Marine support is not automatically included
Identify whether the rig offer includes towing, barges, support vessels, personnel transport, fuel supply, waste handling and emergency arrangements. Define the responsibilities of the rig contractor, marine contractor and operator. If Wigmore assists with sourcing or logistics coordination, that does not replace the named technical contractors’ operational duties.
Check that supporting equipment and services meet the project requirements and applicable permissions. Ask for the current documents relevant to the actual entity and assets proposed, rather than accepting unrelated certificates in a general company presentation.
Compare costs and availability realistically
Request mobilisation and demobilisation prices separately from rig day rates. Clarify standby, weather or access delays, minimum hire, preparation work, inspection, crew and excluded third-party services. Agree what happens if the site is not ready when the rig or marine equipment is released.
For availability, request a dated statement naming the rig, its current status, any preparation requirements and the earliest credible mobilisation window. An indicative market enquiry is not a reservation. Technical acceptance, contracting and regulatory requirements still need to be satisfied.
Start a Niger Delta swamp rig enquiry
Share your location region, intended well operation, programme timing, existing site studies and required contracting scope with Wigmore. We can help organise the information needed for a sourcing and logistics discussion. Detailed project data should be exchanged through an agreed procurement channel, and any offered rig or marine package remains subject to owner confirmation and specialist approval.
Before you approve the proposal
Can I get an immediate price?
A budget indication may be possible once the requirements are understood. A firm proposal needs the named asset, confirmed availability, scope and assumptions. There is no reliable universal Nigerian rig rental price that applies to every campaign.
Does an enquiry reserve a rig?
No. Ask for written confirmation of the reservation process, technical acceptance conditions and commercial milestones. Do not schedule dependent project work on an unconfirmed marketing availability statement.

Drilling barge rental for inland water and swamp projects
A barge drilling rig enquiry should identify whether the requirement is a drilling package installed on a suitable barge, a specialist swamp configuration or another engineered arrangement. A general cargo barge is not automatically a drilling barge. The complete structure, drilling equipment and operating concept must be reviewed together for the actual location.
For inland-water drilling barge hire, provide the relevant channel and site data, seasonal assumptions, access restrictions and programme requirements. Ask competent marine and drilling teams to identify surveys and approvals needed before a firm proposal. River or swamp labels alone cannot establish suitability.
What should a drilling barge contractor quote?
Request the named barge and rig package, current location, legal owner or authorised offering party, mobilisation plan assumptions and readiness requirements. Separate equipment availability from a staffed service commitment. Clarify who provides positioning and support arrangements, transport, accommodation, maintenance and specialist services.
The price should distinguish drilling equipment, barge hire, mobilisation, demobilisation and any standby. Record the handover point and acceptance evidence. A barge at the support base is not necessarily a package ready to conduct the well programme. Ask what remains to be inspected, assembled, approved or supplied.
How is barge rig availability confirmed?
Ask for a dated statement supported by the asset owner and proposed contractor. It should identify current commitments, preparation needs and a realistic mobilisation window. A forwarded brochure is a description of an asset, not a firm offer. Wigmore can help organise the sourcing enquiry around the operator’s brief; the final package and operating responsibilities remain subject to agreement.
