The cost of underwriting services in Nigeria depends on what the word means in the proposed engagement. Insurance risk assessment, loan appraisal, securities underwriting and software support have different responsibilities and charging models. Wigmore Trading accepts enquiries to scope preparatory support, sourcing and coordination. A meaningful quote should identify the actual professional or provider and the work being offered.

Define the service before comparing prices

State whether you need document preparation, software procurement, an independent review, a regulated underwriting commitment or another specific service. Describe the institution, sector, case volume and deliverables. A low consultancy fee cannot be compared directly with the price of a securities commitment or an insurance premium. Ask for the total engagement cost and the conditions behind it.

Cost area Question for the proposal
Professional work Which analysis, review or regulated function is included?
Support and processing What tasks, volumes, supervision and access arrangements are priced?
Technology Which licences, integrations, hosting and maintenance costs apply?
Transaction fees What approvals, filings and third-party charges may arise?
Timing What information and dependencies affect completion?

Verify the provider for the function

For a capital-market service, check the relevant operator and registered function through the SEC register. For insurance and other regulated work, use the applicable authority and qualified compliance advice. A company registration, polished website or referral is not proof of every professional permission. Avoid unsupported “best” rankings or an undated list of supposed top providers.

Ask what the timeline measures

Separate receipt of a complete file, analysis, professional review, internal decision and regulatory approval. Ask what pauses the clock and who owns each dependency. A same-day assessment does not necessarily mean a same-day decision. Obtain a realistic written schedule and avoid treating an indicative sales estimate as a guaranteed approval date.

Contracts and confidentiality

Have qualified advisers review scope, responsibilities, fees, liability, confidentiality, data-processing terms and termination. Loan, insurance and securities agreements are not interchangeable templates. Confirm subcontractors, permitted access, retention and ownership of work products. An outsourcing agreement does not itself transfer a regulated institution’s accountability or authorise work that it cannot outsource.

Compare deliverables and limitations

A useful report explains evidence, assumptions, findings and unresolved questions. Ask whether the engagement provides recommendations, independent assurance or only processing support. Confirm who can rely on the output and whether additional work costs extra. Do not infer that a limited file review validates an entire portfolio or guarantees that no adverse outcome will occur.

Procurement for institutions and new businesses

Banks, insurers, fintechs, mortgage lenders and investment firms have different needs. A proposed underwriting consultancy, BPO, marketplace or technology startup should assess permissions and operating responsibilities before launch. Market research and a business plan do not establish a professional licence or verified customer leads. Wigmore can help scope commercial research and sourcing requirements, with specialist dependencies confirmed.

Prepare a quote request

Send the service type, organisation role, required deliverables, information available and target dates. We can help clarify the support brief and available scope. Do not send sensitive applications, medical records or personal financial files in the first message. This guide does not publish a universal fee, guarantee a turnaround time or establish Wigmore as a regulated underwriter.

Discuss your support requirement with Wigmore Trading

Send a non-confidential brief with your organisation’s role, the review or procurement required and target dates. We can clarify available business-support scope and specialist dependencies. Professional permissions, responsibilities and engagement terms must be confirmed for the actual assignment.
