Japanese beauty products can interest retailers, distributors and brand owners, but a product’s popularity does not establish a lawful or profitable supply route. Start with the products, intended market and actual brand permissions. Build the order around evidence and realistic replenishment needs.

Wigmore Trading welcomes wholesale sourcing enquiries for beauty products from Japan. Send a product list, quantities, destination and your role as buyer or distributor. Brand access, genuine supply, availability and the commercial scope must be confirmed for the particular offer.

Choose the exact product and market version

List brand, product name, size, formulation or variant and packaging. A domestic Japanese version may differ from the version sold elsewhere. Confirm the manufacturer, origin, label language and any formulation information required for your destination.

Separate ordinary cosmetics from products making medicinal or other regulated claims. Have the category determined by qualified regulatory personnel. Do not add treatment claims to a listing merely because a supplier uses them in a foreign-language brochure.

Check authenticity and distribution rights

Verify the seller’s identity and actual supply role. Request documentation relevant to the proposed goods and channel. A photograph of retail packaging is not proof of an authorised wholesale relationship or stock ownership.

Confirm territory, brand-use permissions and any restrictions on resale. Buying authentic goods does not automatically make your company an official distributor. Do not publish manufacturer logos or appointment claims without the appropriate authority.

Registration and labelling before commercial shipment

For Nigeria, use NAFDAC’s imported-cosmetics guidance and confirm the current route for the exact product. A foreign approval or registration is not a substitute for the applicable Nigerian requirements.

Plan the responsible local party, required product information and label review before ordering commercial stock. Registration samples and commercial imports may require different handling. Do not assume a small shipment bypasses the process.

Shelf life and inventory planning

Agree minimum remaining shelf life, batch identification, storage instructions and the condition in which goods must arrive. Ask how the supplier records production and expiry information. Clarify returns or rejection if the delivered stock does not meet the written agreement.

Build a manageable opening assortment. Compare likely sales with order quantities, registration effort and replenishment time. A large discount on slow-moving variants can tie up more cash than it saves.

Shipping and product protection

Provide packing details and the product’s handling requirements. Liquids, aerosols, alcohol-containing products and other formulations can affect transport acceptance. Have the actual ingredients and shipping classification assessed by competent parties.

Discuss protection against leakage, breakage, heat and packaging damage. Keep batch identity traceable through consolidation. Confirm insurance and the evidence needed if goods arrive damaged.

Compare wholesale offers fairly

Review price per saleable unit, case size, minimum order, currency, quote validity and the named delivery term. Add documentation, inspection, freight, clearance and local delivery. Include product-registration and inventory costs in the commercial plan.

Confirm whether the offer is immediately available stock or a sourcing estimate. Do not publish a retail promise or launch date until supply and regulatory readiness are established.

Send a beauty-product buying brief

Provide the product list, variant and pack sizes, quantities, target market, company role and required date. Tell Wigmore whether you need sourcing, documentation coordination, consolidation or shipping. We can assess the scope and request the information needed for a written offer.
