Pharmaceutical procurement must begin with product eligibility and authorised parties, not a general wholesale price list. The exact medicine, manufacturer, market approval and distribution route determine whether a transaction can proceed. A Japanese source does not automatically make a product eligible for another country’s market.

Wigmore Trading welcomes appropriately documented business enquiries for sourcing and logistics assessment. This page explains procurement planning; it is not a consumer medicine catalogue or a claim that every product can be supplied. Any transaction must involve the responsible licensed and authorised parties.

Identify the exact medicinal product

Provide the product name, active ingredient, strength, dosage form, pack size, manufacturer and intended destination. Distinguish finished packaged medicines from ingredients, devices and research materials. Do not use a broad description such as Japanese pharmaceuticals to approve a shipment.

Have the intended procurement reviewed by the buyer’s qualified pharmaceutical and regulatory personnel. Do not substitute products or formulations without the required technical and regulatory approval.

Nigerian registration and import eligibility

NAFDAC publishes guidance for imported human and veterinary drug products. Confirm the applicable registration, importer and permit requirements for the particular product before commercial shipment.

Nigeria’s official prohibition information also identifies restrictions affecting specified medicaments and waste pharmaceuticals. Do not assume that all finished drugs are eligible because a supplier can export them. Resolve the exact product’s status with the responsible professionals.

Verify manufacturer and supply-chain evidence

Establish the contracting parties and their actual authority to supply, import and distribute. Request the product and manufacturing documentation appropriate to the market. Check that the offered batch, pack and manufacturer match the approved scope.

Keep records of supplier verification and any quality assessment. A generic quality certificate or foreign retail listing does not establish lawful commercial supply into the destination country.

Batch evidence and remaining shelf life

Agree batch identity, expiry requirements, quantity and the quality evidence needed for acceptance. Set a minimum remaining shelf life that fits the distribution plan. Define the response to damaged packs, shortages or non-conforming documentation.

Plan traceability and the responsible quality contact. Do not accept unlabelled, mixed or unexplained stock as a shortcut to a lower price. Rejected or expired material needs an authorised handling route.

Storage and controlled transport

The product’s authorised storage conditions should determine the logistics plan. For temperature-sensitive goods, qualified parties should define packaging, monitoring, handling and the process for reviewing an excursion. A refrigerated freight label alone is not proof that the shipment maintained its required conditions.

Confirm receiving capacity and quality release before dispatch. Customs clearance and pharmaceutical acceptance are separate responsibilities. Delays, handovers and contingency storage should be considered before a shipment is booked.

Commercial terms and responsibilities

Compare exact products on the same price, documentation, shelf-life and delivery basis. Identify which party handles registration, permits, quality release, insurance and any recall or complaint process. Confirm payment milestones and what happens if approvals are not obtained.

Do not treat an enquiry response as regulatory approval or a guaranteed supply allocation. Availability and lawful supply have to be established for the actual transaction.

Prepare a pharmaceutical procurement enquiry

Send a non-sensitive product specification, destination, quantity, required date and your company’s role. Include the status of relevant product approvals and the responsible pharmaceutical contact. Wigmore can review sourcing and logistics scope and clarify the supporting information needed. Do not send patient information or request personal treatment advice through a sourcing form.
