Wholesale diamonds, jewellery and gemstones from India need precise product identification and a secure documentary chain. A natural polished diamond, a laboratory-grown stone and reconstructed jewellery material are different purchases. Wigmore Trading can discuss a sourcing enquiry based on the buyer’s specification and destination requirements.
Separate stones, treatments and finished jewellery
For diamonds and precious stones, specify identity, origin description, weight, dimensions, grading basis and disclosed treatment. For synthetic or reconstructed stones, require clear labelling and material identification. Do not allow an invoice to substitute an ambiguous term such as “real stone” for an agreed specification.
For jewellery, define metal fineness, plating, stone setting, design, finish and tolerances. Confirm whether quoted weight includes stones and other components. Private-label orders also need approved artwork, packaging and a process for rejecting unauthorised design changes.
Use independent verification appropriately
Agree the laboratory or assessor and verify reports with the issuing organisation where possible. A report describes the item examined; it does not automatically prove the identity of every item in a bulk parcel. Inspection and lot identification must connect the documentation to the delivered goods.
Set out sample approval, inspection coverage and acceptance criteria. For repeat orders, retain reference samples and records of permitted variations. Do not infer resale value or an investment return from a grading document.
Rough diamonds have a separate control framework
The Kimberley Process FAQ distinguishes rough diamonds covered by its certification scheme from polished diamonds. Relevant rough-diamond trade requires the applicable certificate and participating-country checks. Confirm the exact classification and competent authorities rather than treating one certificate as universal approval for all jewellery.
Current Indian export rules, destination customs, precious-metal marking and consumer-disclosure requirements should be checked for the actual goods. Natural, synthetic, treated and reconstructed products should remain distinguishable throughout the paperwork and marketing.
Secure delivery and commercial terms
Agree a carrier that accepts the declared goods, suitable insurance terms, custody records, tamper-evident packaging where appropriate and the receiving process. Ordinary parcel terms may exclude high-value jewellery or impose limits. Verify cover and responsibility before dispatch.
| Buying area | Key detail |

Send Wigmore the specification, quantity and destination for a scoped discussion. Supplier availability, reports, price and delivery terms must be verified for the actual offer; no gem origin, investment value or brand appointment is assumed.
