About Wigmore Trading

Wigmore Trading is a fast-growing trading company based in Lagos, Nigeria, operating across multiple sectors and markets. We are expanding our media and thought leadership presence and are seeking a highly capable Financial Journalist & Vlogger who can communicate complex financial and business topics clearly to a wide audience.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about finance, economics, markets, entrepreneurship, and global trade, and who can translate insights into engaging written and video content.

Role Overview

The Financial Journalist & Vlogger will produce high-quality content covering business trends, finance, commodities, global markets, entrepreneurship, and economic developments affecting Africa and global trade. The successful candidate will be comfortable writing articles, appearing on camera, hosting podcasts, and contributing to Wigmore Trading’s digital media channels.

We are looking for an intellectually curious individual with strong communication skills and a genuine enthusiasm for business and financial journalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write high-quality articles and commentary on finance, commodities, business, and global markets

  • Produce engaging video content and vlogs explaining financial trends and market developments

  • Host or co-host podcasts, interviews, and discussion panels

  • Research and analyse economic developments affecting Nigeria, Africa, and international markets

  • Interview entrepreneurs, executives, and industry experts

  • Create content for Wigmore Trading’s website, YouTube channel, social media, and newsletters

  • Develop thought leadership content positioning Wigmore Trading as a trusted voice in business and trade

  • Assist with media promotions, webinars, and digital events

  • Maintain high editorial standards and accuracy in financial reporting

Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a high-calibre candidate with a strong intellectual interest in finance, economics, and business.

Candidates should ideally have:

  • A degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Journalism, or a related field

  • Demonstrable interest in financial journalism, business media, or economic commentary

  • Strong writing and communication skills

  • Comfort appearing on camera and hosting discussions or podcasts

  • A strong curiosity about markets, trade, investment, and global business

  • The ability to explain complex financial topics in an accessible way

Preferred Educational Background

Candidates may have studied at leading institutions such as:

  • Lagos Business School (Pan-Atlantic University)

  • University of Lagos (UNILAG)

  • Covenant University

  • Obafemi Awolowo University

  • University of Ibadan

  • Ahmadu Bello University

  • London School of Economics

  • University of Oxford

  • University of Cambridge

Graduates from other reputable universities with strong academic performance are also encouraged to apply.

Portfolio Requirement

Applicants should ideally be able to provide examples of:

  • Articles, blog posts, or essays on finance or business topics

  • Video or media work (if available)

  • Research, reports, or published commentary
