✍️ About the Role

Wigmore Trading is seeking a smart, creative, and analytically minded Financial Blogger to produce engaging, data-driven content focused on finance, economics, trade, and investment trends across Nigeria and Africa.

You’ll write well-researched blog posts, insights, explainers, and opinion pieces that break down complex financial topics into compelling, readable stories. Our readers include entrepreneurs, investors, import/export professionals, and global observers interested in African business.

We’re looking for someone who lives and breathes macroeconomics, financial literacy, African markets, and money trends—and can communicate with clarity and style.

🧠 Responsibilities

  • Research and write 2–3 high-quality articles per week (800–1500 words)

  • Cover topics such as:

    • Nigeria’s monetary policy and inflation

    • FX markets and Naira trends

    • Investment tips and market movements

    • Trade and logistics cost breakdowns

    • Financial literacy for entrepreneurs

  • Use charts, data, and expert quotes to back up arguments

  • Collaborate with the editorial team on content planning and SEO

  • Follow breaking news and offer timely, thoughtful commentary

✅ Who We’re Looking For

  • Location: Based in Lagos or able to cover Nigeria’s financial and business landscape accurately

  • Experience: Background in finance, economics, business journalism, or blogging

  • Writing Style: Clear, engaging, and informative—think The Economist meets Quartz Africa

  • Mindset: Curious, self-directed, responsible with deadlines

  • Tools: Basic familiarity with Google Docs, WordPress, and SEO best practices

📚 Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Journalism, or related fields

  • Experience writing for financial media outlets, blogs, or newsletters

  • Knowledge of Nigerian institutions like CBN, NBS, SEC, etc.

  • Courses/certifications in:

    • Financial Markets (Yale on Coursera)

    • Google Digital Skills for Africa – Content Marketing

    • Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC)

🎯 Application Requirements

Send the following to jobs@wigmoretrading.com:

  1. Your CV

  2. 2–3 writing samples (preferably published financial/business articles)

  3. A short pitch: Tell us one financial topic you’d write about this week and why

🔍 Bonus Points For

  • Familiarity with African trade routes, supply chain economics, or logistics

  • Data visualization skills (e.g., Flourish, Canva, Google Charts)

  • Ability to translate financial content into videos or social posts

Be the voice that explains money in motion across Africa. At Wigmore Trading, your work will influence, inform, and inspire business minds around the world.
