Rice, wheat, corn and raw sugar from India require a product-specific buying brief and a current export-policy check. These commodities have different grades, uses and regulatory conditions. Wigmore Trading can discuss bulk sourcing and freight requirements once the proposed product and destination are clear.
Specify the commodity and grade
| Product | Buying details |
|---|---|
| Rice | Variety, processing, broken percentage, moisture, crop, pack and quality limits. |
| Wheat | Intended milling or other use, grade, protein and relevant quality parameters. |
| Corn | Food or feed use, moisture, impurities and applicable contaminant limits. |
| Raw sugar | Processing specification, colour or polarisation requirements and packaging. |
Agree test methods and tolerances with the buyer’s technical team. A grade name alone may not capture the required performance. For repeat supply, specify how seasonal variation and permitted substitutions will be handled.
Check current Indian export conditions
Commodity policies can change. Use the current DGFT classification and notifications for the exact product rather than relying on old summaries. APEDA’s rice export requirements identify exporter and shipment-related documentation, including destination-specific conditions. The applicable process must be confirmed for the actual rice contract.
Wheat has been subject to policy controls; current official wheat export notices should be checked before an enquiry becomes a firm offer. This guide does not represent unrestricted availability of Indian wheat, sugar or any other staple.
Quality and food-safety controls
Define sampling, laboratory testing, lot identification and inspection before loading. Include relevant contaminants, infestation, moisture and other specification limits. Packaging should protect the product during the intended storage and route.
For food or feed use, verify the receiving market’s rules and the importer’s authority. Nigeria and other destinations can apply product-specific restrictions, approvals and documentation. Export eligibility in India does not establish import eligibility at destination.
Packaging, shipment and landed cost
Confirm bag size, markings, net weight, palletisation where used and container condition. Bulk and bagged shipments need different handling and discharge arrangements. Inspect cargo condition and agree how shortages, damage and quality disputes are documented.
Compare quotations on the same delivery basis, quantity, specification and validity period. Include inspection, documents, freight, insurance where agreed, taxes, clearance and inland delivery. An origin price does not show the complete cost of stock arriving at your warehouse.
Send a bulk commodity enquiry
Provide Wigmore the product specification, quantity, order frequency, destination and delivery requirements. Tell us whether this is a trial order, spot purchase or repeat contract. Our team can assess supplier, documentation and logistics scope and identify the evidence needed before a written offer.
Availability, price, policy status and delivery commitments are confirmed for the particular contract. No harvest forecast or old supplier advertisement should be treated as a guaranteed allocation.
