Tea, coffee, pepper, spice seeds and nuts from India need a clear specification for flavour, processing, quality and intended use. A wholesale food enquiry should distinguish raw ingredients from roasted, ground, blended or retail-packed products. Wigmore Trading can discuss sourcing and export coordination for an eligible destination.
Define the product form
| Group | Specification examples |
|---|---|
| Tea and coffee | Type, grade, processing, sensory reference, blend and pack format. |
| Pepper and spices | Whole or ground, variety, cleanliness, particle size and agreed quality limits. |
| Spice seeds | Identity, purity, moisture, treatment status and intended food use. |
| Nuts | Species, kernel grade, raw or roasted form, defects and packaging. |
Groundnuts, cashews, coconuts and Brazil nuts are not one interchangeable product. Ask whether goods are grown in India, processed there or re-exported from another origin. An Indian seller’s address does not prove Indian agricultural origin.
Agree quality and testing
Use measurable acceptance criteria alongside reference samples. Define relevant microbiological, contaminant, residue and foreign-material limits with the buyer’s food-quality team. For nuts, consider the destination’s allergen and contaminant requirements and the product’s storage sensitivity.
For tea, coffee and spices, sensory approval should be connected to lot identification and the bulk contract. An attractive sample cannot guarantee consistency across an unspecified shipment. Agree permitted variation and the process if a lot does not meet the approved profile.
Private label and claims
Confirm artwork, ingredient lists, allergens, net quantity, batch coding and required destination-language information before production. Claims such as organic, origin-specific or certification marks require current evidence and permission for the actual product and supply chain.
Do not infer that a “natural” ingredient has a therapeutic effect or that a recognised regional name can be used without verification. Product claims should match the documentation and applicable rules in the market where the goods will be sold.
Pack for the route and storage period
Agree moisture and oxygen protection, food-contact suitability, carton strength and handling conditions. Different products may be sensitive to odours, heat, humidity or oxidation. Confirm whether mixed consolidation is appropriate before combining food with other cargo.
Specify minimum remaining shelf life at delivery and identify who is responsible for delays or damage. Samples, commercial orders and repeat contracts can require different documentation; verify the current export and destination requirements before dispatch.
Wholesale enquiries with Wigmore
Send the specification, sample reference, quantity and destination. Our team can discuss supplier identification, inspection, packing and freight scope. Price, origin, certification, availability and delivery terms are confirmed for the particular offer.
For a new retail range, a controlled trial can help validate quality and customer acceptance before a larger commitment. Define that trial clearly so it produces useful evidence rather than a collection of incomparable samples.
