Essential oils, vegetable saps and plant extracts from India should be purchased by botanical identity, processing method and intended application. Ingredients used in fragrance, cosmetics, food or industrial formulations can need different specifications. Wigmore Trading can discuss a bulk sourcing enquiry and its quality and logistics requirements.
Clarify the product form
An essential oil, fixed vegetable oil, oleoresin, sap and solvent-based extract are different materials. Specify the concentration, carrier or solvent where present, relevant chemical profile and permitted additives. Establish whether the quotation is for a pure material, blend or diluted product.
For repeat manufacturing, define the properties that matter to your formulation and the permitted variation between lots. A pleasant-smelling sample is not enough to establish identity or consistent performance.
Testing and traceability
Agree appropriate identity, composition, purity and contaminant evidence with the buyer’s technical team. Methods should suit the ingredient and use. Require lot identification and a certificate connected to the material actually shipped.
Confirm source, processor and any subcontracted manufacturing. An Indian supplier may sell ingredients of other origins; state whether Indian agricultural origin is required or whether processing in India is sufficient. Verify organic or other certification claims for the actual supply chain.
Safety and application suitability
Obtain current safety data and application guidance from the supplier. Food use, topical use and industrial use are not interchangeable. The ingredient should be assessed within the buyer’s formulation and regulatory responsibilities.
This page does not make health or therapeutic claims for oils or extracts. “Natural” does not establish safety, and a product intended for fragrance should not be assumed suitable for ingestion or clinical use.
Packing and transport
Agree compatible containers, seals, headspace or other handling controls where required, and storage conditions. Some ingredients can be affected by heat, light, air or contamination. Provide the safety data and classification to the carrier before booking.
Dangerous-goods status depends on the exact material and formulation. Do not infer acceptance from an earlier shipment of a different oil. Confirm the route, packaging and receiving arrangements for the offered product.
