Buying an electronic trading platform in Nigeria is an operating-model decision as well as a technology purchase. An order-management system, execution-management system, treasury platform and market-making engine solve different problems. Wigmore Trading accepts systems-research and procurement-coordination enquiries. Specific functionality, integrations, delivery commitments and regulated responsibilities must be confirmed for the actual assignment.
Separate the platform components
An OMS typically organises orders and their lifecycle, while an EMS focuses on execution workflows. A dealer or treasury system may add positions, limits and reporting. Vendor definitions differ, so require a written capability matrix with supported instruments, users, workflows and interfaces. Do not assume that a product called multi-asset supports every Nigerian venue or customer category.
| Component | Procurement evidence |
|---|---|
| Order and execution workflow | Approvals, amendments, cancellations, allocations and audit trail |
| Risk and surveillance | Documented checks, exception routing and data coverage |
| Connectivity | Supported interface, venue permission, testing and support owner |
| Post-trade | Confirmation, reconciliation and settlement integration |
| Resilience | Recovery objectives, exercises, backup and restart evidence |
What does FIX connectivity establish?
The FIX Trading Community describes FIX as an open standard for electronic trading communications. In procurement, specify the counterparty implementation, messages, identifiers and conformance tests. Supporting FIX does not establish exchange membership, a live connection, a market-data licence or regulatory permission. Request written confirmation of the integration path and who is responsible for every dependency.
Check Nigerian venue access directly
For NGX, FMDQ or other venues, identify the actual authorised participant and permitted access model. The FMDQ connectivity information describes particular systems and participant arrangements. Obtain the applicable current requirements from the venue or appointed provider. Direct connectivity, sponsored access and an API supplied by a broker are different relationships and should not be presented as interchangeable.
Assess performance under a defined workload
Low latency, co-location and high performance are incomplete specifications without test conditions. Define the intended message volumes, response measures, availability window, network boundaries and degraded-service behaviour. Ask vendors to identify what their measurements exclude. Require controlled capacity and recovery testing, including duplicate, delayed and rejected messages. Do not compare headline speed figures measured across different environments.
Secure access and prepare for disruption
Review user roles, privileged access, authentication, change approvals, logging and separation between test and live environments. Assign owners for cyber incidents, vendor outages, missing market data and recovery. Determine privacy and recording obligations with qualified specialists. A cloud deployment or outsourced service does not remove the institution’s governance responsibilities. Agree notification, evidence preservation and exit provisions in the contract.
Use acceptance criteria before signing
Test complete workflows using controlled data, including order changes, limit exceptions, trade corrections and reconciliations. Record pass criteria and defects, and identify who can approve production readiness. Obtain a total-cost schedule covering licences, hosting, data, connectivity, migration, training, support and future changes. Specify how records and configuration can be exported if the relationship ends.
Prepare a platform-enquiry brief
Send your organisation’s role, markets, user groups, current systems, workflow gaps and procurement timetable. Wigmore can discuss preparation and supplier-enquiry coordination within an agreed scope. This page is not documentation for a live Wigmore trading API or an offer of exchange access. Keep production credentials, private network details and customer data out of initial enquiries.
Discuss your preparation requirement
Send a non-confidential brief describing the support you need, project stage and timetable. Wigmore Trading can clarify available research and procurement-coordination scope and specialist dependencies before any engagement.
