Quick answer
For most people in Nigeria, the best tablet in 2026 is the Apple iPad (A16), from about ₦580,000 for 128GB Wi-Fi. The best-value Android pick is the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+, at roughly ₦200,000–₦390,000 on Jiji. The cheapest branded tablet we found new was the Redmi Pad SE 8.7 at about ₦150,000. No-name 7-inch tablets start around ₦46,000 on Jumia, but they come with serious caveats. All prices were checked in September 2026.

What affects tablet prices in Nigeria
- Where you buy. Authorised resellers charge more but give official warranties. iConnect listed the iPad (A16) from ₦890,000, while Gadgets Nigeria listed the 128GB Wi-Fi model at ₦580,000.
- Storage and SIM. Each step up in storage, and the Wi-Fi + Cellular (SIM) version, adds a lot to iPad prices.
- New, open-box or used. Many Jiji “brand new” listings are open-box. Ask whether the box is sealed.
- The exchange rate. Almost every tablet is imported, so prices follow the naira-dollar rate and import costs.

Sources: Gadgets Nigeria and iConnect (iPad); Jiji.ng (Samsung, Xiaomi, Tecno, Lenovo, iPad mini); iConnect (iPad Air). Checked 28 September 2026. Some models had only a handful of live listings.
1. Apple iPad (A16) — best tablet for most people
Apple announced the 11th-generation iPad in March 2025. It has an 11-inch Liquid Retina display, the A16 chip, USB-C and Touch ID, and it works with the Apple Pencil (USB-C) and Magic Keyboard Folio. iPads get software updates for years and hold their resale value well in Nigeria, which offsets the higher upfront price. Buy the 128GB Wi-Fi model unless you need a SIM slot. Use your phone’s hotspot instead.
2. Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ — best budget Android tablet
It has an 11-inch 90Hz screen and Samsung’s software and service network. Jiji had about 71 listings in September 2026, so it is easy to find and compare. Choose 128GB if you can. 64GB fills quickly with WhatsApp media and offline videos. For more Samsung options, see our Samsung tablet price guide.
3. Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE — best for students
It has a 10.9-inch, 90Hz, 2304 × 1440 display and comes in 8GB and 12GB RAM versions. It is a step up for note-taking and split-screen study. Most of the 33 Jiji listings we saw were brand new and priced between ₦670,000 and ₦880,000. Listings far below that range deserve extra scrutiny.
4. Xiaomi Redmi Pad SE 11 — best big screen for the money
At about ₦230,000 for 128GB, it is one of the cheapest routes to an 11-inch branded tablet. It is great for Netflix, YouTube, reading and video calls.
5. Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2 Pro — best mid-range all-rounder
New 128GB units were ₦370,000–₦400,000 and 256GB about ₦550,000. Consider it if you want more power than the SE without paying iPad prices.
6. Tecno Megapad 10 and Megapad Pro — best local-brand option
Tecno’s tablets are sold widely in Nigeria and serviced through Tecno’s Carlcare network, which makes repairs easier outside Lagos. The Megapad 10 (4GB/128GB) was ₦245,000–₦260,000 new, the Megapad SE ₦255,000–₦300,000, and the Megapad Pro (8GB/256GB) ₦358,000–₦370,000.
7. Lenovo Tab M11 — solid reading and school tablet
We found a new 128GB unit at ₦310,000. There are fewer listings than for Samsung or Xiaomi, so compare carefully. Lenovo’s older Tab M10 units sell used for around ₦83,500. They are fine for e-books, but check that the Android version is new enough for the apps you need.
8. Apple iPad mini (A17 Pro) — best small tablet
It has an 8.3-inch display and the A17 Pro chip. It is light enough for one-hand reading and fits in a small bag. 128GB units were listed at ₦690,000–₦850,000, and 256GB at ₦730,000–₦1.1 million.
9. Apple iPad Air (M3 / M4) — best laptop replacement
With a keyboard case, an iPad Air handles documents, spreadsheets, design and video editing. iConnect listed the 11-inch Air M3 at ₦1.2m–₦1.8m and the 13-inch Air M4 at ₦1.55m–₦2.45m. Only professionals who need the fastest chip and best screen should step up to the iPad Pro M5 (₦2.1m–₦4.1m). On Android, a used Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra 512GB was listed at ₦1.55m.
10. Redmi Pad SE 8.7 — cheapest branded tablet worth buying
At about ₦150,000 for 64GB, this is the lowest-priced new branded tablet we found. It is a sensible first tablet for a child or a basic reading device.
Best tablet for students, kids and business
- University students: Galaxy Tab S10 FE or iPad (A16) with a stylus and keyboard.
- Secondary-school pupils and kids: Redmi Pad SE 8.7 or Galaxy Tab A9+ in a rugged case. Set up parental controls (Google Family Link or Apple Screen Time).
- Shop owners and sales reps: a Galaxy Tab A9+ or Tecno Megapad with a SIM slot works well as a POS or ordering device, a product catalogue on WhatsApp Business, or for inventory apps.
- Creators and professionals: iPad Air or iPad Pro.

How much is the cheapest tablet in Nigeria? (And the “1TB for ₦99,000” trap)
The cheapest tablets on Jumia in September 2026 were unbranded 7-inch models. The ZAOPAI 7″ (4GB/64GB) was ₦46,080 and the Atouch A38 7″ ₦60,480. Several 10-inch tablets were advertised with specs like “16GB RAM + 1TB” for about ₦99,000–₦115,000, and a “12GB + 512GB” tablet for ₦127,872.
Be sceptical of those numbers. Genuine 1TB storage and 16GB of RAM are flagship-level specs. Branded tablets with them cost several times more. At these prices the listed specs are often exaggerated, or depend on “virtual RAM” tricks. The real test:
- After delivery, install a storage and hardware info app (e.g. CPU-Z) and compare the real RAM and storage with the listing.
- Try to fill a large chunk of the claimed storage. Fake-capacity storage often corrupts files once you pass the true size.
- Check the Android version and security patch date in Settings.
- Keep the packaging and use the platform’s return window if the specs don’t match.
If your budget is below ₦130,000, a used branded tablet is usually better than a new unbranded one. Used Galaxy Tab E units were ₦90,000–₦120,000 and used Redmi Pads ₦55,500–₦70,250 on Jiji. Follow our UK-used device checklist. The same IMEI, Google-lock and battery checks apply to tablets.
Tablet buying checklist
- Decide Wi-Fi or SIM. A SIM (cellular/LTE) tablet costs more. A phone hotspot is often enough.
- Get at least 128GB if you will download films, lecture videos or games.
- Confirm the model in Settings, not just on the box.
- Check for account locks. On an iPad, setup must not ask for someone else’s Apple Account. On Android, the previous Google Account must be removed.
- Ask about warranty, and whether it is honoured in Nigeria (Samsung, Tecno) or only by the reseller.
- Test the screen, speakers, cameras, charging port and Wi-Fi before you pay.
- Get a receipt with the serial number or IMEI.
Where to buy tablets in Nigeria
- Apple resellers (e.g. iConnect): highest prices, but official stock and warranty.
- Gadget stores (e.g. Gadgets Nigeria, Slot, Kara): competitive new prices. Check their return policy.
- Jumia: convenient nationwide delivery and a returns process. Stick to branded items from well-rated sellers.
- Jiji and Computer Village: best prices and bargaining, but inspect in person and never pay a “delivery deposit” to a stranger.
