Successful automotive parts sourcing depends on identifying the correct part and its condition. A photograph, vehicle nickname or approximate year can leave a workshop with a component that does not fit. Send the technical identifiers before comparing offers from Japan.
Wigmore Trading welcomes enquiries for vehicle parts and accessories, engine parts, transmissions and suitable tyres. Specify the destination and whether you need new, used, rebuilt or other clearly described goods. The actual supplier, condition and availability must be confirmed in the offer.
Build a parts list that avoids substitution errors
Provide the manufacturer part number, vehicle or chassis details, engine code, transmission code and any relevant revision. Include photographs of the original labels and connectors where useful. Ask your technician to verify compatibility before approving an alternative.
“Parts for vehicles under headings 8701 to 8705” describes a broad vehicle range, not a sufficient shipping description or a universal tariff classification for every component. Identify each product and have the correct classification determined for the transaction.
Engines and engine components
Distinguish a complete engine, a long block, a bare assembly and individual components. List the included accessories, wiring, control units and attachments. For used or rebuilt goods, request condition evidence and the tests appropriate to the offered assembly.
Agree mileage or service-history claims only where they can be supported. Define what the seller means by tested or rebuilt and what remedy applies if the delivered component does not meet the agreed condition.
Transmissions and drivetrain compatibility
Match the exact transmission type, code, configuration and relevant electronics. Similar housings do not prove interchangeability. Confirm whether the offer includes torque converter, sensors, control modules, mounting parts or other items needed for installation.
Ask a competent workshop to review the proposed assembly and testing record. Include installation and calibration responsibilities in the buying plan. A cheap gearbox can become expensive if it needs missing modules or major adaptation.
Tyres: separate new stock from restricted used goods
For new tyres, specify size, load and speed rating, intended use, construction, production information and the documentation required at destination. Confirm storage condition and acceptance criteria for bulk stock.
Nigeria’s official prohibited-items portal lists restrictions on retreaded and used pneumatic tyres with a specified exception. Do not treat mixed used tyres as routine cargo. Have the exact product and destination eligibility checked before payment or collection.
Inspection and packing
Agree the inspection sample and the evidence needed for each line. Mixed used parts need a clear inventory and condition record. Protect machined surfaces, electrical connectors and fragile housings. Have any fluids, batteries or other regulated contents assessed by a competent shipper.
Label packages so the packing list can be reconciled to the contents. Do not describe an entire consignment simply as spares or scrap. Goods supplied for reuse must be accurately described, and waste or unusable components can trigger different requirements.
Compare the full order cost
Review unit prices, inspection, packing, collection, freight, insurance, customs requirements and delivery. Confirm whether quotes are per component, assembly, crate or weight. For repeat purchases, agree substitution approval, shortage handling and a traceable record of each shipment.
Where a local source can meet the specification and timing, compare it with importing from Japan on total cost and support. Imported origin alone does not prove a better commercial option.
Send your parts enquiry
Provide an itemised list with part codes, quantities, condition, destination and required date. Attach relevant labels and your technician’s acceptance requirements. Wigmore can assess sourcing, consolidation and shipping scope, then request the information needed for a written quotation.
