Refined copper and zinc from India should be purchased against a specified form, grade and industrial use. Copper cathodes, other refined forms and raw zinc products can differ in composition, packaging and processing suitability. Wigmore Trading can discuss a sourcing enquiry with clear technical and delivery requirements.
Specify the industrial requirement
Identify the required purity, relevant impurity limits, dimensions and physical condition. Electrical, alloying, coating and casting applications may have different acceptance criteria. The buyer’s technical team should approve the specification and any proposed alternative.
Do not confuse primary refined material with scrap, recycled feedstock or another metal product. The offered description, test evidence and classification should consistently identify the same goods.
Verify origin and authority to supply
Establish the producer or processor, seller and documentary chain. Goods sold from India may have another production origin, so confirm what the contract requires. Verify business identity and investigate inconsistencies between the invoice, bank beneficiary and supply documents.
Large claimed volumes, unusually favourable prices and pressure for an immediate deposit warrant independent verification. A copied certificate or warehouse photograph does not prove available stock or ownership.
Sampling, analysis and quantity
Agree who samples, which laboratory or inspector is used, the methods and the lot identification. Define how net weight is measured and how discrepancies will be resolved. A certificate should relate to the material actually delivered.
For ongoing contracts, specify inspection frequency, permitted variation and rejection procedures. Retain records that connect each lot to its documentation and receiving checks.
Commercial and transport terms
| Area | What to agree |
|---|---|
| Price | Fixed or formula basis, validity, premiums and currency. |
| Evidence | Producer identity, composition, weight and traceability. |
| Delivery | Packing, loading, accepted carrier and receiving capability. |
| Claims | Inspection point, notice periods and dispute mechanism. |
Plan dense-cargo handling and secure storage. Confirm container and lifting limits, corrosion or contamination protection, and insurance responsibilities. Current export and destination requirements should be checked for the exact form and classification.
