Engines, gas turbines, transmissions and engine parts from India need a defined operating duty and a compatibility review. Industrial power, mechanical drive and vehicle applications require different specifications. Wigmore Trading can discuss sourcing and export coordination for a technically complete enquiry.
Complete units versus parts
A combustion engine, turbine package, transmission and replacement part should not be quoted as interchangeable equipment. Specify whether the requirement is a bare unit, a packaged system, a rebuilt component or a particular part.
For replacement, confirm the exact configuration and manufacturer references. Changes in control systems, mounting, cooling, emissions equipment or output interfaces can prevent an apparently similar unit from fitting the application.
Define performance at the site
State continuous or intermittent duty, expected loading, ambient conditions, utilities and fuel specification. The buyer’s engineer should assess derating and integration requirements. A catalogue rating may use conditions different from the receiving site.
For transmissions and drive components, specify torque, speed, ratio, mounting and the connected machinery. For gas turbines, a specialist review should establish the package boundaries, fuel supply, controls and support requirements before procurement.
Condition and documentary evidence
Identify new, used, overhauled and refurbished equipment separately. Ask for test reports, operating history, refurbishment scope and remaining support. Verify the unit or part identification against the documents.
Agree factory or independent acceptance testing where appropriate. The test method, instrumentation, load conditions and acceptance limits should be defined in advance. A brief no-load video is not a complete performance test.
Installation and support
| Scope | Question to settle |
|---|---|
| Package | Which controls, cooling, exhaust, mounting and accessories are included? |
| Commissioning | Who installs, aligns, integrates and proves operation? |
| Maintenance | What parts, tools, software and service capability are required? |
| Warranty | Which operating conditions, exclusions and claim responsibilities apply? |
Check current export controls and destination requirements for the exact equipment and intended end use. Civil industrial procurement still needs classification and end-user checks where applicable. Do not assume a general machinery description settles eligibility.
Request a scoped supply offer
Send Wigmore the technical schedule, quantity, destination and delivery requirements. We can discuss supplier identification, inspection, packing and freight scope. Brand appointment, capacity, availability and performance commitments are confirmed for the particular offer.
Plan delivery around site readiness and specialist commissioning. A large component arriving early may need preservation and secure storage, while an incomplete package can delay the entire project.
