Job Description:
We are seeking talented and creative Script Writers to join our production team in crafting cutting-edge Nigerian and African thrillers, dramas, comedies, and documentaries. This is an exciting opportunity to bring captivating stories to life and contribute to the growing film and television industry in Africa. The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling, a deep understanding of African cultures and narratives, and the ability to develop engaging and original scripts for diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Script Development:
- Write compelling scripts for movies, TV shows, and documentaries in genres such as thrillers, dramas, comedies, and more.
- Develop unique characters, authentic dialogue, and captivating plots that resonate with Nigerian and African audiences.
- Adapt scripts to align with cultural nuances and contemporary issues.
- Research and Concept Creation:
- Conduct thorough research to ensure accuracy and authenticity in scripts, particularly for documentaries and culturally sensitive content.
- Collaborate with directors and producers to brainstorm and develop original ideas and concepts.
- Editing and Revisions:
- Revise scripts based on feedback from directors, producers, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure scripts meet production timelines, budgets, and creative goals.
- Polish drafts to deliver final versions ready for production.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with directors, producers, and other creative team members to ensure the vision of the story is realized on screen.
- Participate in workshops, brainstorming sessions, and table reads to refine scripts and narratives.
- Trend Awareness:
- Stay updated on industry trends and audience preferences in Nigerian and African cinema and television.
- Incorporate innovative storytelling techniques and formats to create cutting-edge content.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience as a scriptwriter for film, TV, or other media (portfolio or samples required).
- Strong understanding of storytelling principles, character development, and plot structure.
- Excellent command of English and/or other African languages (multilingual writers are encouraged to apply).
- Familiarity with Nigerian and African cultures, traditions, and contemporary issues.
- Ability to write across multiple genres, including thrillers, dramas, comedies, and documentaries.
- Strong research skills, particularly for factual and documentary-based projects.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Creative mindset and openness to feedback and collaboration.
