About Us

Wigmore Trading is a fast-growing trading company based in Lagos, Nigeria. We specialize in sourcing, importing, and distributing a wide range of products across Africa, leveraging strong supply chain networks and an agile business model. We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Revenue Accountant to manage invoicing, revenue recognition, and commission tracking for our sales team.

Role Overview

The Revenue Accountant will play a key role in managing the company’s revenue cycle, ensuring accurate invoicing, proper revenue recognition, and efficient commission calculations for the sales team. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, attention to detail, and experience with financial systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Invoicing & Accounts Receivable:

    • Prepare and issue accurate invoices to customers in line with contract terms.
    • Track outstanding receivables and follow up on payments.
    • Reconcile customer accounts and ensure timely collections.
  • Revenue Recognition & Compliance:

    • Ensure revenue is recorded accurately in accordance with accounting standards.
    • Work closely with sales and finance teams to ensure proper revenue classification.
    • Assist in financial reporting and revenue audits.
  • Commission Tracking & Sales Support:

    • Calculate and process sales commissions based on agreed commission structures.
    • Validate sales data and ensure commission payments align with revenue recognition policies.
    • Provide sales performance reports and analysis.
  • Financial Reporting & Reconciliation:

    • Maintain accurate revenue records and reconcile with general ledger accounts.
    • Assist in preparing financial statements related to revenue and commissions.
    • Identify discrepancies and provide solutions for process improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a top-tier Nigerian university, preferably:
    • University of Lagos (UNILAG)
    • Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU)
    • University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN)
    • Ahmadu Bello University (ABU)
    • Covenant University (CU)
    • Babcock University
    • Lagos Business School (LBS) (for advanced candidates)
  • Minimum of 3–5 years experience in revenue accounting, invoicing, or commission tracking.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS/GAAP) and revenue recognition standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Sage, or similar ERP systems).
  • Advanced Excel skills for financial analysis and commission calculations.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Experience in a trading, distribution, or FMCG environment is a plus.
