With an expanding footprint in logistics and marine operations, we are launching a commercial fishing division that emphasizes sustainable practices, ethical business, and professional excellence. We are seeking disciplined and skilled Ship Crew Members to join our fleet of industrial trawlers and purse seiners.
Role Overview
Ship Crew Members will assist in the operation of fishing gear, general vessel maintenance, and fish handling aboard Wigmore Trading’s industrial vessels. You will work under the direction of the Captain and First Mate during extended voyages, often lasting several days to weeks, with responsibility for contributing to safe, efficient, and productive fishing trips.
Key Responsibilities

Assist in deployment and retrieval of fishing gear: trawl nets, purse seines, ropes, buoys, and trawl doors.

Operate deck machinery including winches, haulers, and cranes under supervision.

Participate in fish sorting, cleaning, gutting, icing/freezing, and proper storage in refrigerated holds.

Support basic engine room tasks, maintenance of onboard equipment, and fueling procedures.

Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of deck, cabins, and fish handling areas.

Follow safety protocols, including wearing appropriate PPE and participating in drills.

Stand watch duties, assist with docking/undocking, and help moor or anchor the vessel.

Report damages, gear issues, or unsafe conditions to supervisors promptly.

Uphold discipline, respect command structure, and contribute to a positive onboard atmosphere.
Required Experience & Qualifications

Prior experience (minimum 1–2 years) working on fishing vessels, trawlers, or marine workboats preferred.

Familiarity with basic fishing operations (net handling, fish processing, machinery use).

STCW Basic Safety Training certificate is a strong advantage (Firefighting, Survival, First Aid, Personal Safety).

Physically fit to handle long hours, harsh marine environments, and heavy equipment.

Must be able to swim and follow instructions during safety drills.

Fluent in English or Nigerian Pidgin; knowledge of local languages a plus.
