School connectivity is useful when learners and teachers can reliably access the material they need during a lesson. A fast advertised internet package will not resolve weak classroom Wi-Fi, uncharged devices or content that is unavailable when the connection fails.

Wigmore Trading supports equipment and project enquiries for school networks, mobile learning facilities and power-supported education in Nigeria and Africa. We help institutions define the required infrastructure and assess sourcing and deployment options.

Map users and learning activities

Estimate concurrent users rather than counting only registered students. Describe the applications, lesson schedules and locations requiring coverage. Video lessons, administration and offline content synchronisation create different traffic patterns.

Workstream Requirement to establish
Internet connection Site coverage, service terms, data limits and fallback
Campus Wi-Fi Building survey, user density, access controls and coverage
Offline learning Content licences, local access, updates and device compatibility
Power Load, operating hours, backup and maintenance

Separate the internet link from the local network

A working connection at the school office does not establish coverage in every classroom. Have a competent network team assess walls, distances, interference, cabling and access-point placement. Define how staff, learners and guests will be separated and administered.

Confirm provider coverage and service availability for the exact site before committing to a technology. Rural projects may need a different connectivity arrangement from urban schools, and advertised coverage should be checked through a suitable site assessment.

Plan offline access deliberately

Identify which teaching materials can be used without a live connection and who has the right to distribute them. Establish update schedules and how devices synchronise. Offline access is a designed workflow, not a promise that every online service will continue during an outage.

Consider teacher training and support alongside the equipment. A system should remain understandable to the people responsible for running it after the installation team leaves.

Specify a mobile classroom as a complete facility

A learning bus may need vehicle procurement or conversion, accessible entry, seating, workstations, charging, connectivity, cooling, secure storage and safe operation. Define intended locations, routes, session sizes and supervision. Appropriate vehicle and installation specialists should establish engineering and approval requirements.

Include vehicle maintenance and equipment security between visits. A mobile facility still needs a reliable staffing, learning-content and operating plan.

Size solar and lighting around actual loads

List devices, network equipment, displays and hours of use before requesting solar equipment. Study lamps and a whole-school power system are different purchases. Ask qualified designers to establish the appropriate electrical and storage configuration.

Compare warranties, battery replacement, installation, training and support. Confirm product identity and delivery scope rather than treating “solar school kit” as a standard package.

Can school Wi-Fi guarantee learning outcomes?

No. Connectivity supports teaching; outcomes also depend on appropriate content, teachers and effective use.

What should I send Wigmore?

Provide school locations, learner numbers, buildings, applications, power situation and whether the project is fixed-site or mobile. We can assess the infrastructure and sourcing requirements.

Prepare your equipment enquiry

Note the intended application, delivery location, quantities, target dates and required support. Include an approved specification or describe the work the equipment must perform. Separate confirmed requirements from assumptions and identify the person responsible for technical acceptance.

This checklist helps you prepare a brief; it does not submit information. Start with non-confidential project details. Do not include patient or student records, credentials or private financial documents in a general sales enquiry.
