Quick answer
As of 28 September 2026, the Tecno Spark 8 is sold only used in Nigeria. There are no brand-new or refurbished units on Jiji or Jumia. A “foreign-used” (UK-used style) 64GB unit from a verified Lagos seller was listed at ₦89,999, and a Nigerian-used 64GB with a crack was ₦45,000. Expect to pay roughly ₦45,000 to ₦90,000, depending on condition. Our view: don’t pay near the top of that range, because a used Tecno Spark 20 starts at about ₦80,000.

Source: Jiji.ng Tecno Spark 8 listings (2 ads) and Jumia Nigeria, checked 28 September 2026; NaijaTechGuide (updated 14 August 2022). With only two live ads, treat these as reference points, not an average.
An earlier version of this page said the Spark 8 cost ₦29,999 and ran on a Snapdragon 675 with a Full HD screen. None of that was correct. The Spark 8 uses a MediaTek Helio P22 and a 720p screen. It sold new from about ₦63,500 in 2022, and today’s used prices are in naira that has lost much of its value since.
Don’t confuse it with the Spark 8C, 8P, 8T or 8 Pro
Tecno sold several “Spark 8” models, and they have different chips, cameras and prices. Sellers sometimes list one as another. Always check Settings > About phone for the exact model name before you agree a price. This guide is about the plain Spark 8.
What “UK used” really means for a Spark 8
Nigerian buyers often use “UK used” to mean a clean, imported second-hand phone. On Jiji, the matching label is “foreign used”, and the one foreign-used Spark 8 we found cost twice as much as the Nigerian-used one. A seller usually can’t prove where a phone came from, so judge the phone itself, not the label:
- Does the IMEI match the box and pass a Carlcare check?
- Is the body free of cracks, and is the screen original (even brightness, no yellow patches)?
- Does the battery hold up under a 10-minute test at full brightness?
- Does the seller give a return window or warranty? Verified business sellers on Jiji sometimes do, so ask.
If the answer to all four is yes, a price near the top of the range can be justified. If not, the “UK used” label is only there to raise the price.
What its price says about it
The old headline asked what the Spark 8’s price says about it. In 2026 the answer is simple: it’s an entry-level 2021 phone, and it’s only good value when it’s cheap.
- The Helio P22 is an older entry-level chip. It handles calls, WhatsApp, Facebook and YouTube, but you’ll notice lag with several apps open.
- Android 11 (Go edition) is the lightweight version of Android built for low-memory phones. Some full-size apps are replaced by “Go” or “Lite” versions.
- The 5,000mAh battery is still the best thing about it, if the battery hasn’t been worn out by years of use.
- 10W charging over microUSB is slow compared with the 18W USB-C charging on newer budget phones.
Worth buying? It is worth it at ₦45,000 to ₦55,000 as a backup phone, a phone for a shop attendant or a first phone for a child. It is not worth it at ₦80,000 to ₦90,000, because for the same money you can get a used Spark 20.

Better options at the same budget in 2026
With ₦45,000 to ₦90,000 you can only buy used, and at that price newer used phones are the better deal. If you can spend ₦100,000 or more, buy new so you get a warranty.
| Phone | Condition | Price seen (Sept 2026) | Upgrade over the Spark 8 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tecno Spark 20 (128GB) | Used | ₦80,000 – ₦138,000 | Helio G85, 90Hz, 50MP main and 32MP selfie cameras, 18W |
| Infinix Hot 40i (128GB) | Used | ₦90,000 – ₦165,000 | Unisoc T606, 90Hz, 50MP, 18W |
| itel A100C (2GB/32GB or 64GB) | New | ₦103,040 – ₦116,570 | New with a warranty, 6.6″ screen, 5,000mAh |
| Infinix Smart 20 (4GB/64GB) | New | ₦156,316 – ₦175,000 | Helio G81, 6.78″ 120Hz, 5,200mAh, Android 16 |
| Tecno Spark 50 (4GB/128GB) | New | about ₦190,000 – ₦245,000 | The Spark 8’s current successor: Helio G81, 120Hz, 50MP, 7,000mAh, 18W, IP64 |
Prices: Jiji.ng used listings and Jumia Nigeria new listings, checked 28 September 2026. Specs: GSMArena, Tecno and the Jumia listing titles.
Worked example. Suppose you are offered the ₦89,999 foreign-used Spark 8. For about the same money, the cheapest used 128GB Spark 20 ads (₦80,000 to ₦95,000) give you double the storage, a Helio G85, a 50MP camera and 18W charging, in a phone released more than two years later. The Spark 8 is only worth choosing if it costs much less.
Buying UK-used phones in bulk to resell?
Import duty, levies, freight and clearing can wipe out the margin on a batch of foreign-used handsets. Use Wigmore Trading’s free landed cost calculator to see what each phone really costs you in Lagos before you order.
You can also estimate the duty on your goods with our import duty calculator, or ask for a customs pre-clearance review before your shipment lands.
Buyer’s checklist
- Dial *#06#. The IMEI must match the box and Settings. Then check it with Carlcare, the official after-sales service for Tecno, Infinix and itel, which offers warranty and “Verify Authenticity” checks. See Carlcare’s IMEI guide.
- Confirm the model. Settings > About phone should say Spark 8 (not 8C or 8T) with a Helio P22.
- Inspect the screen for cracks, lifted edges, yellow tint or touch lag.
- Test the cameras and flash, the fingerprint sensor, the speaker and microphone, both SIMs, and charging through the microUSB port.
- Check that your apps work. Install your bank app and WhatsApp before you pay, because Android Go phones can have trouble with some apps.
- Buy in person, pay after testing, and get a written receipt with the IMEI.
Fraudsters often borrow real company names. Wigmore Trading’s safety page lists its only official channels, and you should check any seller in the same way before you send money.
Frequently asked questions
